Huge fire in downtow Raleigh N C

This is from a local NBC twitter feed. Some are saying it covers 2 1/2 city blocks. If you are in Raleigh be safe. Prayers.

All I am hearing it is wind swept...so assuming it started then became windswept.

Whoa ! 2 1/2 blocks ??? ..... That's a BIG fire!!....stay safe and keep your pets safe ! I always worry about the animals ....of course people too, but really the animals .

Seems it started in an apartment building...possibly an explosion. Explosions in other building were mentioned. Guess anything could have caused them. Apt building was under construction.

Exactly. That's epicly bad.

At that point all they can hope to do is try to contain it and if the winds are as bad as what I'm reading, then that may not be possible.

Just get out of its way and stay safe.

My nephew lives in Raleigh. A really pretty city. I hope everyone is ok and that they don't loose too many buildings.
There's a lot of glass and Steele down town. And some very old historic buildings. So beautifully combined with old trees and city green spaces.

This is a horrible situation and I wish the best for all affected.

The video timed out so I had to look for this story. It was a hugh fire but it was only a construction site. Four alarm. West of the capitol area. It was unknown at the time if anyone was inside.
Hopefully not.

Look at that pic, the whole street past that building looks desolate. Maybe the crackhouses didn't want a new building moving in and messing up their hood.

I live about 15 mins away from the fire...I'm actually supposed to head downtown that way soon , probally not a great idea .... if I can I'll take some pics or give any updates if I hear anything.
