Big mistake, politically motivated.
F-35 was the way to go.
Now Lockheed will retaliate and cancel the contracts the Canadian aerospace industry had.

Most of the public up hear thinks we only get that if we buy. I post and post and they tell me i am wrong.

Not sure I understand what you are saying.

Most Canadians do not realise we put up money for research, helped design and build part etc. Politician's don't talk about it. Etc.

When I put up red flag reports they site 12 year old reports. I've posted stuff about the buy in they say it prequel to some else.
They think i am lossing the plot line and I cnnot get them to read the script.

I have told them we are current making money. Their repose "the kick back does happen until purchase is complete.
edit on 19-3-2017 by SmilingROB because: Added detail.

The U.S. company that makes the controversial F-35 fighter is publicly warning that Canadian industry stands to lose as much as $10.5-billion in spinoff contracts if the federal government ends up not buying the warplane.

The Canadian Senate is pushing to end the purchase of the 18 Super Hornets, instead wanting the government to buy used Legacy Hornets, to build up their fleet, until they go through with the fighter replacement. They cite the high cost of having to buy the infrastructure for the Super Hornets, and then having to pay more again in a few years, and only getting 10-15 years out of the brand new aircraft.

And Canada now plans to put the whole deal on hold. Supposedly this is over the fact Boeing is protesting Bombadier's "dumping."

The F35's are the right choice to make.
Took them a while in Ottawa to figure this one out.

Is gambling allowed on ATS? I'm willing to make bets on the outcome of the Canadian fighter competition.

The J-20 wasn't built to fight other fighers. It was built to kill AWACS. There is also no proof that it is stealth in any way beyond it's shaping. Even with this shaping they stuck some canards up front just make sure you could see it anyway. The J-20 is just an airframe with very little inside it.

I agree that would be a good start.

We should be shepherding ships across our north , for a nominal fee.

It would also be a display of Canadians protecting their sovereign soil.

A totally meant as a "#uck you" to the previous conservative government. for most Canadians that voted for Trudeau voted for the pretty face not his policies.

The fact that we developing a huge gap in our militarises abilities is regrettable and perhaps exactly what they want.

F35 to save face.
Which should of been the choice from the start.
Politicians need to keep out of Defence procurement.
