Ottawa Carleton U is getting rid of scales at the gym. There is a sign that reads that the scales were removed to focus on other ways to measure health than just weight, so says Bruce Marshal manager of health and wellness.

Ottawa's Carleton University has decided to get rid of all the scales at their gym. Athletics have put up a sign where the scales used to be that explains that they were removed to encourage people to focus on other ways of measuring their health beyond just their weight.
Bruce Marshall, manager of health and wellness at Athletics, told the school's paper, The Charlatan, that: "We don't believe being fixated on weight has any positive effect on your health and well-being."

Believe it or not there are people that are not happy that the scales are gone. And find scales actually help by telling you how much you weight.

Some people are not happy with the decision and #bringbackthescale has appeared on twitter with some people saying obesity is also a disorder and scales can actually help obese people keep track of losing or gaining weight.

What did the scale say to the easily triggered obese student?

One at a time please.

I find it hard to believe that the "wellness" manager didn't tell, hold it. Of course he removed the scales. Anything for anyone as long as it flies in the face of tradition and normalcy.

Jeez Louise! If you find climbing onto a scale and actually seeing how many pounds your poor diet and exercise habits have added to your backside why don't you just refrain from getting on the scale?

Stating that someone is obese has become the same as using a racial slur to Social Justice Snowflakes these days. Lord forbid someone should be offended by looking at a scale to be reminded that they NEED to be in that gym!

It seems as though the Canadian schools have caught the idiocy. Maybe they can put the scales in a limited access secure facility with the universal "No Snowflake" on the vault doors so no one is triggered by inadvertently seeing the evil scales. You just can't unsee a scale.

Naw, forget setting goals and measuring results. What does that have to do with weight loss and fitness?!

Well ya know if you weigh 400 pounds you don't need to lose weight necessarily, that could just be your particular "healthy" weight! lol

I'm triggered by whiney nutbags that are always crying about being triggered- can we get a ban on that?

Here's an idea, spent the last hour brainstorming but I think I might have come up with a better solution.

If you don't want to know your weight, don't step on the scale.

Really had to rack my brain to come up with that but it just might be feasible.

They should also take away the mirrors too because mirrors also trigger folks who are measuring their health. They should also separate the males from the females and everyone should have to wear the exact same uniform.

...since we're going full-retard n all.

When weight becomes "inconvenient" it makes sense to start looking at alternatives to help with those cravings.
I'm not talking about waiting till lymphedema reaches your feet and your shoes don't fit..
The DAVInci syrups everyone talks about in the keto forums seem to help some maintain their flavor preferences.
Did they take out the mirrors in the locker rooms too?

Why don't triggered lefties ever think of everyone else? How about everyone busting their asses to lose weight and be healthy who no longer can check their weight?

The fitness equipment is pretty intimidating as well. Should probably remove all of that just to be safe.

Who is so broke they need to use "the public scale"?

Or is measuring your weight at the gym more significant than doing it at home?

I agree it's stupid...it's also stupid to care.
