Due to the lack of availability for resources regarding abortion procedures in Texas, Representative Farrar proposes a bill meant to illustrate...unfairness?

It is not meant to be taken as serious legislation, but instead it's a protest to highlight the issue of women's rights. However, I find it comes off as an ignorant joke rather than a purposeful analogy.

A Texas lawmaker has proposed a bill that would fine a man $100 each time he masturbates.
The bill also imposes a 24-hour waiting period if a guy wants a colonoscopy or a vasectomy, or if he's in the market for some Viagra.

edition.cnn.com...

Why is the comparison made at all?

Farrar's bill would penalize men for masturbation because such behavior is a failure to preserve the sanctity of life and "an act against an unborn child."

Well we could argue until we're blue in the face over at what stage an embryo is considered an unborn child. One thing the unborn child is not, is a gamete!

Gametes are reproductive cells (sex cells) that unite during sexual reproduction to form a new cell called a zygote. Male gametes are sperm and female gametes are ova (eggs).

www.thoughtco.com...

Once the gametes join, it is referred to as a zygote--and upon cellular division--an embryo.

So, we're really talking about apples and oranges here. I'm not the only one who thinks so.

"I'm embarrassed for Representative Farrar. Her attempt to compare to the abortion issue shows a lack of a basic understanding of human biology," said Rep. Tony Tinderholt in a statement.

I'm not for or against abortion either way. Ideally, I am against it, but don't care to embarrass myself in the politics of the issue. I'll leave that to the experts like Representative Farrar.

Someone is confusing female orgasms with pregnancy... a more accurate bill would be to put "Dad" on the financial hook for any baby chosen to be kept by the mother. Oh, wait...
Uhm, how about laws that clearly state there is no legal recourse for a "Dad" who wants the baby but whose partner is determined to abort? Damn... that's another 'Oh, wait'...
Ah, here's one, a similar bill would be one that states a man can't walk into a drugstore to buy rubbers and demand the tax payers buy them for him! Ah crap, that's already how it is, too...

You know what? This Farrar is all hat and no cattle. He's as dumb as Texas is arrogant.

Texas state Rep. Jessica Farrar.

Hey I'm all for women's rights and all. But this is a stupefyingly weak argument for her to make.

Whoops! My perceptive reading skills are as acute as Texas is humble.

I see plenty of opportunities for those in Oklahoma and Arkansas. However they may levy a stiff tax on border crossers.

It would actually have the opposite effect if you really think about it. It would open the door for every married Texas male to say the following: "Well honey, is your headache worth $100 of our family budget tonight?"
