Your idiotic political correctness and demands of anglo diets almost killed me.
Im Siksika. My parents both born on Rez. According to the white BIA and govt Im Blackfeet. Your demands of diet and things at the grocery only available.. and your food pyramids and vegan screaming kill off indigenous people. Your demands of low fat diets and no proteins make us sick. Literally. Your forcing diet changes and demands we eat less meats and fats keep kids with tooth decay, infertility problems and organ failure.

Wow... honey maybe all of the buffalo meat consumption is making you angry. Or maybe you're just angry for another reason and using my post, and more than likely others, as a way to vent your anger. Well... whooptie-ta! I guess you told me. I guess I'll go and get a triple cheese burger with bacon and mayo now and totally forget about what 8 years of med school taught me.

I wasnt overweight.. I was cutting to get in another weight class. Reading comprehension.

Maybe calm yourself and read it WITHOUT your own attitude. Buffalo meat making me angry?? I WANT consumption of buffalo meat.. and meat in general. And fats. Its that whole reading comprehension thing again.

Angry? Im griefsticken....at soaring death rates... Infant mortality jumping 20 percent in the last 15 years... Preventable diet related disease due to demands of what is consumed... Population dwindling to unsupportable levels and a population I am part of dying out completely.

I dont hate whites.. I married a white guy. Hell, Im related to almost all NDNs in Browning... I got out of the shallow pool. However, white anglos in the US.. you know.. where people of other ethnic backgrounds live.. need to take thatinto account when they make all of these stupid food recommendations and demands. The govt is supporting killing off others with their demands. Demanding this crap in school and not teaching kids how to eat for their bodies and backgrounds. Everyone of every ethnicity is different... but we all must be told what to put into our bodies. Its such a very basic thing. How to eat. How to be healthy. It doesnt apply to everyone. It HARMS others. Im sick of being told by vegans Im a murderer.. when theyre killing off my own in a very true way when they pretned to know everything about nutrition for everyone. I thank God I have the money and means to buy what I need.. because its UNAVAILABLE in any wide spread way. Its totally unavailable for most on their income. FOOD .. a basic thing.. is told to us its wrong, bad, and is intentionally priced beyond our means. Commods are a joke and not healthy by any means. I cant support the entire rez nor can I get even my own to educate themselves on how to be healthy and not listen to the "professionals" and doctors on rez. Its been shoved down their throats so long they are complacent slaves in a concentration camp.. being killed off slowly.

Mad.. angry? Ive gone way past that I think. I also am pretty sure its okay to be angry about it. I grieve for my loved ones including the future generations.. for the short time they will be here. I had my genetics done and run gene apps to get variance reports to try to identify some of the metabolism issues I do have. I also test the effects of various foods on me on a continual basis and have identified some food chemistries that are better and worse for me.

The OP is correct with a lot of that, but genetic differences can make a big difference between what people need to eat. I need to consume some of the plant chemistries and sometimes I need to consume animal products to get the right kinds of Amino acids. Plants have phytic acids and Phytates which bind things and unless you possess the right enzymes to take it apart, plant foods may be worthless. My son in law needs to eat way more niacin containing foods, in a plant based nicotinic acid form. For me, I need it in NAC form, but I do keep some nicotinic acid around in case of an emergency, it is actually an antidote for some things. NAC is also an antidote, but for a different condition than nicotinic acid.

It is complicated, everyone is different. All the research I have done has taught me that everyone, even our kids some times, is different. We need to eat different than one another. So far, I have not found a single food that is not psychoactive, they all adjust our personality and are supposed to stimulate our subconscious to crave companion chemistry or an antidote.

A little cranky there aren't you? Maybe you should go have some mashed potatoes and gravy with a nice roast and some carrots. It can be Buffalo roast, that stuff is pretty good, but a little lean, I kind of like bison burgers better myself.. We usually get a half of a cow to eat, it is grass fed organic beef, it is limosine so it is an older type. I like it better than angus or hereford, way less fat in the meat. I can't eat all of the crap they say is good for people, it would kill me.

Good thread! I started eating a vegan diet over a year ago for health reasons and quickly found that the food I was now eating was much more flavorful than what I was used to. The book I got the diet from recommended that you cheat one meal a week and eat whatever you want but when I did that I found that it wasn't as tasty as I remembered - I preferred my new diet.

I ate only seeds, nuts, certain grains, fruits and vegetables and I don't miss the pizza and burgers, etc. really, anyway if I crave something like that too bad I'll have a cheat meal on Saturday. I have made some changes like adding fish and eggs, making me an ova-pescatarian now, but this has become a lifestyle thing rather than a "diet" and I couldn't imagine going back.

I LOVE your posts Ricky. I pay attention to them even if I dont reply. Youve had some troubles like I have getting to the point of figuring out what the problem is. I truly believe that food is our biggest healthcare issue in this country. SO much could be alleviated by proper nutrition .. so more serious problems could be properly addressed.

Ive yet to find a place in the st louis area that will take insurance to do a full vitamin, mineral or etc testing... it all has to be cash or pmt up front and so many ill folks cant afford that. I paid out of pocket and it was ridiculously expensive. God forbid you ask an endocrinologst to test for this or that. They dont want to take your ethnicity into account either.

I used to eat fast food.. you know, if I eat it now I get pretty ill. I have my cousin down here recently.. and he exists on fast food. He's also fat, dying of heart disease and liver disease. He is younger than me.. it just KILLS me to see that.
You mentioned psychoactive. I completely agree with that. Ive not seen it "cure" autism, but Ive seen it make such a miraculous difference.. one that "expert" drs claim was impossible... that Im convinced we should tailor to fit the diet of people who are suffering from diseases that are common now, but uncommon or nonexistant in the past when we had food freedom. Now it seems you are only allowed health and longevity if you have the money to do it. The poor are entitled to health as much as the rich in my fantasy future US. LOL!

cutting out most if not all sugar is probably the single most beneficial thing anyone could do.....Joe Rogan has a show with guest Dr. Rhonda Patrick and she literally spends close to half an hour just on how bad sugar is and what it does. One of the most dense health shows i have ever heard and well worth listening to.

As to backing up my claim about the billions, i will admit its mostly a personal conclusion loosely based on anecdotal evidence about the diets of those in china, india and africa....places known for their profound poverty and limited access to a wide variety of foods which you stipulated was essential for getting enough of the right proteins to substitute for meat.

i dont have a problem with your post at all....i just think that practically speaking getting the variety you and others have advocated is very difficult for a very large part of the worlds population. Something we can change of course.

Gorillas and chimps have a totally different muscle fiber structure than humans. Theirs are much bigger and have a brain that allows much more "draw" to their musculature. And their muscles are attached further away from joints than humans. That's why they are 5 times stronger than us. It has nothing to do with eating vegetables....
Not that I am against vegetables or fruit.
I love fruits and vegetables. It's the only reason I have a garden. I love almonds, pecans, peanuts and cashews as well, and am planting hazelnut trees this year.
That being said, if I were to eat less than 3500-4500 calories a day, I would shrivel and die.
For people who work in office buildings and workout in gyms with orthopedic mats, 1900 calories might be enough. But I do logging, build houses, and do concrete. Your body will sh#t out in no time if you don't feed it. Hunting and fishing provides my family with plenty of trout, salmon, venison, grouse, turkey... it has more to do with the quality of the food and your dietary requirements than some article telling you what you need.

Chill out. Of course there's an agenda to make us sick and weak and feminized. At least to make us less agressive.
However most of it is the food industry itself. We are forced to eat highly processed junk-food by price because we
need to be fed cheap and not to live too long. Livestock production is inefficient compared to plant production. Like tenfold.

There's too many of us to feed everyone with meat. They found out long time ago that to even get enough milk they need to feed the cattle with more protein than it can get from plants so they started to feed it with meat and bone
meal which caused BSE after a while. Don't waste the energy you've got from an animal for fighting but rather work harder.

I was always a fan of plant based diet and I still am. It's a spiritual thing. It makes meditation possible, body odour pleasant...And I can't stand the cruelty of the industry. Not using CO2 anesthesia in slaughterhouses. Not using anesthesia when dehorning, disbudding, castration... I'll try to get along with marine collagen and less than 12 Kg of meat per year.
And diary - especially whey protein.

Okay fine, all understood. But you don't need to lash out here. This is for discussion and again, no where did I push an agenda, no where did I forcefully tell anyone they should be Vegan for any reason and no where did I make this a racial thing. For the 10th time I'll say... to each their own. I'm simply sharing some information for those who might be interested. It works for some and not for others. We all have to decide what works for us. I never said "meat was murder". It's no secret that our disease care system along with our government and big pharma are not concerned with our health. Profit it their motivation... not making people well. It's my opinion... again, 'My Opinion', that the things they tell us we should eat, drink and take in terms of meds are the things we should avoid at all costs.

All good points! There's a lot of research on the topic of our biological differences in terms of the need for certain nutrients over others. Some people say that everyone is made the same biologically at first, it's what we ingest and our environment that begin to make chemical changes and often times cause havoc to our systems. I'm sure we've all read about the 'milk or no milk' argument. For me personally, I don't think humans need milk from another species. There's a lot of research on the topic. I won't get into it here from a medical / biological perspective. But hey, I grew up drinking milk too and once I gave up the dairy a lot of things in my body improved greatly. Anyway, good for you for being your own advocate, that's the most important piece

Yes I hear that from a lot of people. Once you start eating real food, and by real I mean unprocessed, unpackaged, organic, whole foods in their natural state that you can't go back to the other foods and taste def changes. Sometimes I"ll eat something as simple as a tomato and I'm amazed at how good it tastes! I think a lot of people have that 'Aha' moment when they take a bite and say 'So this is how it's really supposed to taste'. I never imagined that simple foods could taste so wonderful until I removed the processing. I like the idea of having a treat meal once a week, it helps to stay on track and in most cases after a while the individual doesn't want the treat anymore. Like you said, it just doesn't taste the same. A while ago I stole a French fry from my husbands plate and as soon as I put it in my mouth all I could taste was oil and salt! A friend of mine from another country said "no wonder why kids in your country don't like vegetables, most of them are cooked to death and covered in butter or sauces". Like you can't taste the difference between a green bean and a carrot LOL! Many people take a lot of effort to cover up their foods to hide the real taste. I don't get it but... I hate to say it again... to each their own.

I agree about it being difficult getting the variety in many parts of the world. There's a lot of debate about healthier foods being too expensive. I don't find that to be true, I mean things like vegetables, beans, fruits... I spend less on those items than I ever would on meat or anything packaged. That might have something to do with where I live or where I shop of course. There's a bigger agenda, I think everyone can agree with that.

My point about B 12 was that you cannot get it naturally therefore that's not a diet that our genome is adapted to or in other words one that is not ideal. You cannot get adequate amounts of B 12 from plant sources except fortified plant sources, which again is not natural. a person being a strict vegan before vitamin fortification of foods was at major risk for the problems associated with B 12 deficiency.

That goes along with the fish oil bit. Just because the oceans are polluted doesn't mean we don't need the fish oil. We need to stop polluting the oceans or figure out a way to get the fish oil with you can you can purify fish oil. Of course this is not natural but our genome is adapted to eating fish (oil)and needing it, more than needing it but that every single cell in our body is made up of fish (EPA/DHA)and they are called essential fatty acids because it cannot be made by anything else.

I understand your philosophical objections to eating animals, but the point of this thread was not philosophical objections but scientific reasoning. I'm just responding that there are some issues with the scientific basis of a vegetarian or vegan diet.
