As I continue to watch the left eat each other if any dare drift to a centrist position. It is becoming clear they are in their own echo chamber on Facebook, Reddit, and various other forums on the internet, they are either paid or reside in the coastal areas of America that are completely out of touch with everything between LA and New York.

They believe there own propaganda ........

And they don't learn from previous failures. They just double down.
The left had the moral high ground during the Bush Years, how did they politically devolve so fast ?

I think I know part of the answer, instead focusing on trying to protect American citizens rights and freedoms like they had for generations, they switched to trying to do that for anybody who set foot in America and gave it priority over their own citizenry. And some of these people
are a negative force on American citizens. Clearly many Americans disagree with that including some long time democrats, Trump acknowledged this basic fact, and it effected voting.

Until democrats wake up to this echo chamber they have placed themselves in, the GOP is going continue to beat them, there are many 2018 contests in Trump won states coming. They have a Political Cognitive Dissonance problem.

This looks like a good place to drop this off....

Much of The New York Times’s coverage, for instance, implied that Clinton’s odds were close to 100 percent.

Perhaps when one of their own is pointing this out they will listen.

I agree that many on what you term 'the left' do suffer from this condition and that it would help them to discover their own short comings now and in the future. But I have to wonder at your failure to carry your understanding of this condition over into describing how it also affects those on what many call the 'right'.

My introduction to cognitive dissonance came in the early 2000s followed by reading a book by cognitive scientist George Lakoff in his 'The Political Mind'' in 2009. Lakoff is decidedly not a conservative so much of what he had to say in his studies were directed at this condition in conservatives.

The key to this condition is that it is not particular to just one set of political beliefs, indeed that it is not specific to political beliefs at all but rather a normal condition of human consciousness. Now that CD is a well known condition it is easy to point to it in others but just as Jesus suggested that it is easier to point to the mote in another's eye while being unaware of the log in ones own, CD is not so easily discerned within ones own consciousness.

Blue_Jay33,

I will tell you one thing for an absolute certainty. Hillary Clinton did not fail to win the Presidency, because she was too left wing. She failed to win, because rightly, no one trusted her most noble statements, given how evil her actions were when she was in a position to make positive differences to peoples lives. No one trusted that a woman so closely associated with the military industrial and the intelligence industrial complex, would ever be capable of representing people who wanted their liberty to be held up as more important than their security. No one trusted that she would make choices which would be better for the people, because they already knew that she was so tightly bound up with the interests of the small elite at the top of the food chain.

Essentially, she lost because she was part of the problem for genuine left leaning voters, a fence riding yes woman without a morality of her own, known to flip flop to please those with short attention spans.

If the Democrats had run a different candidate, the results would have been far different.

An article from Nov 2016.

Who can't let go?

So, I was just reading up on Trump and Cognitive Dissonance.

Condensed: Trump has both a huge ego and a fragile one.

“I don’t believe that Trump is aware of the dissonance you refer to because he will say anything to win an argument at any time — ignoring the fact that he stated the opposite just a week ago, or indeed, just a minute ago,” Aronson said in an email.

And somehow, the idea of it being recorded by the entire media for millions of people to examine doesn’t matter. (“The media is so dishonest,” Trump often says.)

“There is one thing you need to know about Trump — and that explains just about all of his erratic, self-destructive statements and behavior,” Aronson said. “His self-esteem is both high and fragile.”

But why don't you mention the Right?

That's the problem with these political threads. Everyone has blinders on to "their" party.

Truth is that if you are partisan to the point that you think Democrats are always better than Republicans or that Republicans are always better than Democrats and you think third parties and independents are part of a lunatic fringe and that only "Establishment" Politicians are the way to go, then you ARE the problem.

I agree.
That was not happening, up to and including using the shenanigans they did to ensure she was the nominee. The bubble was so thick those shenanigans were not just accepted they were praised for "keeping the independent from winning the dem nom".
Its not like this this was not pointed out; no one cared. The glass ceiling had to be broken at all cost.

No.The democrats did run a different candidate, in fact 5 different candidates. Each of them lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton in the democratic primary. Bernie Samders, to the far left of Hillary Clinton, lost the democratic primary to Hillary Climton.

She cheated. Tried the same in the Presidential Election but failed. Same could have happened in democratic primary, but didn't. Democratic voters willingly voted for Hillary. The opposite of TrueBrits assertion. Dude needs a hard look in the mirror to better understand his role in this life.

Dem choices were a joke because they are representatives of the jokes of our society. Look at what groups make up r Democratic Party; the poor, weak, abortionists, LGBT; the lessors of the whole. Trump represents the other side of the spectrum.

Good post and a subject being looked at in different ways . The lefts push over the past on being PC hit a wall ...Their slide will continue but you should see many getting off that slippery slope ... The lefts globalists stance and the rights nationalist stance is not compatible . Also there is the god/God principal in conflict between the two camps as this piece shines a light on .

The geo-political struggle between so-called “globalists” and their nationalistic (populist) counterparts has reached a feverish pitch. With trust and belief systems in the crucible, everything from our economic beliefs to our spirituality is up for grabs. At the center of all this, America’s President Donald Trump and the Russian Federation’s President Vladimir Putin stand out as media targets and as gladiators against a kind of neo-liberal hysteria. Here are some thoughts on the globalist order and on the incontrovertible role conflict we just recognize – our religiousness is being fundamentally challenged.

The Americans for Putin Facebook profile has 3060 “likes”. The Vladimir Putin Fan Club on Facebook has 122,196 members. On Instagram, Twitter, VK, and a dozen more social media outlets thousands of Putin fan profiles exist, with millions on millions of followers. Furthermore, a new Gallop poll being broadcast via mainstream media, Mr. Putin’s approval rating is up among Americans most recently. The media in America and Europe would like to attribute this popularity to the Trump election win, but the Russian president’s favor with millions of Americans has nothing to do with Trump or being Republican. Bear with me and I’ll explain why Vladimir Putin is more popular than you imagine. journal-neo.org...

I've done it. Many times.

I'm pretty sure everyone has, including both of the choices we had in 2016.
