I just saw the Godfather movies, i do love em. The music, the feeling, the culture..
I love the unwritten rules, when it came to their own community and the punishment for breaking those rules.
The bosses who thought they were untouchable, and if they went missing, it usually meant they ended up dead.

For me, those Godfather movies, meant everyone has to abide to a set of rules, no matter which society you come from.
Its the punishment thats the difference.

The third installment was not great. Godfather 1 and 2 were really just the book split into two films.

The first two were great but as I said before the third was a real letdown.

But those first two were amazing!

Back to the Future. Better than GF, the original Star Wars was pretty good too along with the first three Indiana Jones.

GF wasn't bad but 'best ever'?

Worst ever - fast and furious?

Agree. The 3rd was awful. Never trust a sequel made 10+ years apart.

A little off topic of triologys but I would say the deer hunter is the best Vietnam war movie.

Been watching a lot of those lately. I wasn't really into Apocalypse Now as much as I thought. I liked Platoon more!

I have not seen The Deer Hunter but shall add it to my list.

Not sure about that but I do know that the Vietnam war had the best soundtrack of all the wars we've ever had.

What Vietnam films would you put above the deer hunter?

I liked Tigerland although it wasnt set in Vietnam. Full Metal Jacket is a classic.

Godfather 1, hands down.

IMO, the first half of Deer Hunter is 'hard to get through'.
Second half is fantastic.

Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
Apocalypse Now
Casualties of War
(not in order)

I have never watched a godfather movie.
They just didn't appeal to me for some reason.
Maybe someday.

Platoon is good but imo just doesn't stand up to the greatness of the deer hunter.

I'm a huge Defoe fan and he was spectacular in platoon.

The deer hunter sets you up to feel the movies weight without it being emotionally manipulative.

The first half of FMJ is great but second half of that film flounders as the pace slows as it makes it to its climax. FMJ is like two halfs of a different movie in one. But as a former marine r. Lee ermey used to come to my barracks often and take pics with us. He is a super nice guy.

They are quite good. Ignore the third.
