Deep beneath the basement of her husbands home,
May sat staring at the opening to
where the racoons, would peep
their faces
and
ask for food...
The flore was a lonely dark brown, tamped down very solid with a bowl of water,
set out for her true friends...that actually spoke to her!
they told her things and she spoke words aloud,
''Ah, my darling husband has set some white linen clothing up past the animal door!"
May was happy the end times were afoot and new she would not be left over on Earth...
"a lords child!" May held the true faith...
"I must appear as the book...bad or good said!"
She dug at the hard soil, mixed it with the racoons water and, covered herself approprietly...
her shredded raggity outfit would prove herself of worth to be amoung the living!....
to be continued....

well the clothing wasn't white linen but it was washed and clean.
donning navy blue cords, a sunny yellow tee and green hoodie,
May made it through the dog door as the golden fluffy dog said,
with a smile..."over here come on....lets go..."
May was excoted going through all the doggy doors and outside found the burial of her old drunk squriell...
digging up the remains , she found some rice...
"oh my dear husband will love the rice pudding pie, she thought and spoke out loud,
"ah my thinking is good, recipies...a womans thoughts..."
a pile of termites she had gathered last the light was shining bright in the sky...
was near a stump and so...
she decided on a mud rice pudding tart sprinkled with termite seasoning....
it all baked in the warmth of outdoors and after a bit she went into the home as a human...
walking uprite.

Through the side kitchen door and into the den where her man sat at a computer,
she spoke allowed, setting the creation down on a round table, "ah, brunch, dear sir..."
he spoke, "get out, just leave"
so May went on her merry way and left the building....
wandered down the path through the forest
and some woman driving a vehicle screached to a stop,
"dear, you all right...?"
May just answered, "i'm leaving my husband..."
The lovely lady opened the passenger side door,
"well come on dear, i'm here to take you to a safe place..."
The two women were never seen again and the man that had married May left town...
looking for aa better bride
the end...

Cheers mate for a fine read.

I read your story a couple of times trying to place where the clothing has significance, The white linen then blue cords, sunny yellow tee and green hoodie. I have an inkling but my thoughts here may be off track.

Nice contribution, very original.

kindest regards,

bally

Hey PC,

what does the clothing mean,
just to satisfy my curiosity.
I'm not a cat, just some old man,
I'm asking politely, just a little bitty,
So satisfy this ask if you can.

kind regards

bally - (bump for you)

Thanks for this peppy. I like the aspect of the clothes.

I find the Christian parallels fascinating here, being someone who studies the Bible regularly. Some things that occurred to me in no particular order:
May seems to be trapped beneath her apparently unloving husband's home (You said "beneath the basement" and that she needs to dig in the dirt). As if the people in Earthly power keep her in rags and slavery. Now, what I find profound is that she mixes the dirt with the raccoon water and (unless I misread it) puts the mud on as clothes. The marks of her slavery become the mark of her salvation. ("her shredded raggity outfit would prove herself of worth to be amoung the living!.... ")

She acts humbly and seemingly with no ill will - she even presents her cold husband with a humble gift, the best that she can come up with given the state she's been relegated to. Yet he harshly tells her to leave, so she goes. It seems to me that eventually she and the other woman who picks her up will indeed find white linen.

I also liked that her name is May. Where I live, in May is the month when things really start to become that vibrant and bright green of spring. Not the mature, darker green of midsummer, but that eager, energetic green of new life.

All in all, thank you for this story - clearly, I enjoyed it.

Interesting Peppy!

So the woman escaped, in the end?

Sad story but, happy ending is what I felt from reading it.

Thanks!
