According to a report in The London Times and best selling Catholic author and journalist Antonio Socci, about 12 cardinals who have supported Pope Francis since his election in March 2013 now fear that his controversial reforms may cause a schism in the Church, and so they hope to pressure the Pope to resign. "A large part of the cardinals who voted for him is very worried and the curia ... that organized his election and has accompanied him thus far, without ever disassociating itself from him, is cultivationg the idea of a moral suasion to convince him to retire," reported Socci in the Italian newspaper Libero, as quoted in The London Times of March 2.

The cardinals who want Pope Francis to resign are among the liberal prelates who backed Jorge Bergoglio (Pope Francis) four years ago, said Socci, and they would like to replace him with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican secretary of state.

That report says volumes. The liberal cardinals are usually considered the backers of the reformist Francis, in opposition to the conservative Curia prelates who don't want any change of the status quo and their well being, among other doctrinal issues.

At the time Bergoglio was elected pope, acceptable figure among the reformist cardinals was sought, preferably from the Third World. Other options were, cardinal Sherer of Sao Paulo, or cardinal Maradiaga of Honduras. The Canadian candidate, cardinal Marc Armand Ouellet, cast his own voters in favor of Bergoglio, despite he had a simple majority at that time and could hope to be elected himself (2/3 required to elect pope). That is to say, there was some kind of agreement between the majority of cardinals to elect reformist, relatively younger Latin Ammerican as the next pope.

Now, after 4 failed years of reforms? If the liberal camp wants the change of Francis, what to say about the conservative camp? The trumped reform of Francis simply does not materialize, however it created the biggest stir among the hierarchy since Vatican II council.

Whether the next choice would be the much younger cardinal Parolin, that would be the enigma of the next conclave. As the Roman saying goes, whoever enters a conclave as papabile, comes out as a cardinal.

How these people matter is beyond me.

The whole church is corrupt.

Any group that protects pedophiles shouldn't exist.

The Pope is a Jesuit. I assume that the Jesuit General (Black Pope) is actually in charge and will decide doctrine and who is Pope right down to who lives and who dies. The Jesuits are a curse upon the Earth and I have no compassion for any of them....including the bouncer Francis.

If certain texts can be believed, this Pope will be the last one ....

The Catholic Church is moaning and groaning under the weight of its past misdeeds.

If all of the final misdeeds come to light ... it will end the Church once and for all.
