In my opinion, Scream is Ozzy Osbourne's best album. I think he deserves a special award for doing that at the age of 61. That's an incredible accomplishment. The fact that more people aren't recognizing how amazing that is has me scratching my head.

Please show me where Ozzy Osbourne achieved this level of songwriting on any other album?

I believe Scream is a masterpiece from start to finish.

This is what he's singing in the Let it Die song. It's an old document from the Nag Hammadi Library.

Song Time

RUMI

If a traveler tripped over a rock in their path
700 years ago, and from this event altered the
course of their life, we might conclude the rock
was only incidental. But if that same rock trips
thousands, through the centuries, each walking
away with a different message and a different lesson,
then can we call this incidental? When foolish
people trip, they get up and walk away as if
nothing happened. They learn nothing. A wise
person will find a greater meaning for their fall.
But a rock that trips travelers in every age, each
time imparting a different meaning, that is not
just a rock. That is God.

Song, I Want it More

RUMI

Within people there is a longing and a desire such
that, even if a hundred thousand worlds were
theirs to own, still they would find no rest or comfort.
They try every trade and craft, studying
astronomy, medicine and every other subject, but
they reach no completion, for they have not found
their true desire. Poets call the Beloved “heart’s
ease,” because there the heart finds ease. How can
we find peace and rest in anything but the
Beloved?

All these pleasures and pursuits are like a ladder.
The rungs of a ladder are not a place to make
one’s home; they are for passing by. Fortunate are
those who learn this. The long road becomes
short for them, and they do not waste their lives
upon the steps.

All his music relates directly to Mysticism and the lament of the Son's of Darkness. The Sons of Light have music as well, as do the Neutral Angels in the Fall of the Light into Primordial Chaos.

MADHU

"Skt. in the mythology of the Puranas, the personifications of darkness , one of the two primal forces that emerged from the primal chaos as "firstborn"; the personification of the other primal force, that of light, was Brahma (Abraham). These two divinities were among the most important DEVAS of Vedic period. They fught each other constantly, but neigher was able to destory the other (See Abraxas). In later Hindu cosmology, Madhu was slain by Vishnu in his manifestation as Krishna (Christ), and Brahma became one element in Hindu trinity (Trimurti)." Shambhala Encyclopedia

The subject of the thread is his solo albums. I absolutely agree with you, but you're not comparing apples to apples.

Apparently these lyrics were borrowed? War Pigs are not.

I can't say for just Ozzy but all the Black Sabbath albums from 69-79 were perfect. Though Geezer wrote most of the lyrics.

A poster above made that claim about one of the songs, but I see no truth to the claim.

The Blizard of Oz is
one of his all time best albums, I agree.

Mother please forgive them
For they know not what they do
Looking back in history's books
It seems it's nothing new
Oh, let my mother live

Heaven is for heroes
And hell is full of fools
Stupidity, no will to live
They're breaking God's own rules
Please let my mother live

Father of all creation
I think we're all going wrong
The path they're taking
Seems to be breaking
And it won't take too long
Children of the future
Watching empires fall
Madness, the cup they drink from
Self destruction, the toll

I had a vision, l saw the world burn
And the seas had turned red
The sun had fallen, the final curtain
In the land of the dead
Mother, please show the children
Before it's too late
To fight each other, there's no one winning
We must fight all the hate

Although I think I love all of his albums, with Black Sabbath as well,
(which has even better songs)
Blizzard of Oz is the one that stands out in my mind as his best.
The Ultimate Sin comes in 2nd,
but it is hard to say because I do really like them all.
