Lauryn Hill, Bahamadia, Jean Grae, rah digga, Jane Doe, Remy Ma. Can't really think of many more than can hold their own on a track with a bunch of guys.

No Lay and Amy True from UK are decent too.

So far a great thread celebrating the female pioneers in the rap industry! Who do you think is the greatest of these females mentioned, ATS?

(I don't have a clear favorite-- but have always liked and respected Jean Grae-- she's just too underground IMO to be greatest ever).

Good choice.. she definitely held her own (and stood out) on one of the best rap albums, period.

Good call

For newer artists, I like Dej Loaf-- she's good, good flow, not the best ever but still deserves props.

Sticking to southern female rappers, Princess Loko is also pretty sweet.

You know, I think you have a real valid point here. I feel the same way about rap that I feel about NBA/WNBA. I just prefer listening to male rappers watching NBA mysself..
I'd definitely endorse most of the songs on this thread though. I could listen for days on end probably.

Another one is Boog Brown! Great track right here featuring Supastition on a Apollo Brown beat!

Nonchalant was a personal favorite during the mid 90's too. Until the day (which was featured in the Bulletproof movie) was an awesome song and 5'o'clock was in regular rotation as well.

Apani B FLY is another one who I listen to a lot. Check this joint!

That's who I came in to post.
I really wish Strange Music would've been able to pick her up.
