Blaming clearly medical issues caused by very real things [substance abuse, mental illness, shot in face] is so 1645.

We have moved on from then.

I am also puzzled how something that has been made up by humans is lapped up by the religious people as truth.

Daemons existed for a long time and were completely different from what the bible [demons] made them out later on.
They were beings you could summon for help for specific questions or problems, ranging from scientific to medical to love issues. Kind of like an supernatural internet.
Apparently these Daemons were neither nice, nor nasty, they were just like humans. Some were helpful and friendly, others were indifferent and some were cheeky.
At no point were they anything like the bible degraded them to. They certainly had no interest in possessing someone and make them walk around looking like idiots.

In short: NO, this guy is not possessed by a demon but in serious need of medical assistance.

As a christian and coming from a church that has experience in these things, the absolute last possible ailment you would look for is that they are possessed..

A lot of communication with the person is required and prayer also to discern the problem.. like some on here say, it is most probably drugs.

Wouldn't like to meet him in a dark ally though.

Don't do 'certain' drugs. They are not all the same you know. Aspirin is a drug and so is alcohol and so is cannabis and so is Heroin and Crack, worlds of difference. Cannabis is highly recommended for chronic pain and some other illnesses. Crack is of no use whatsoever.

Kids, don't paint all drugs with one brush. get informed.

I would argue that the claim of "demon possession" was an antiquated way of explaining away mental illness with the only understanding that they had--religion.

So, no, the guy is not possessed, unless this is 1254CE and all we have to go on is the 'infallible word of God.'
