HOLY CRAP...There is now a herd of elephants in the middle of the room, how long before the GOP who love their country acknowledge it?

Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general.

One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.

At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign.
“I’m not aware of any of those activities,” he responded. He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.

In January, Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Sessions for answers to written questions. “Several of the President-elect’s nominees or senior advisers have Russian ties. Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?” Leahy wrote.

Sessions responded with one word: “No.”

LINK

Kislyak is the head Russian Ambassador in DC and regarded by the Intelligence Community as their Chief Spy Recruiter..

Same guy that was talking to Flynn...when Flynn also lied about it.

Sessions is claiming he talked to Kislyak in his role as a Senator on the Armed Service Committee and forgot about it..Can't remember what was discussed (same Flynn MO)...but if during the Height of a Russia Investigation last year and in the midst of profound Sanctions by the US on Russia...you have a sit down in your office with the Lead Russian Ambassador?...and then forget about it..and don't tell anyone about the meeting...and then lie in hearings and claim you never had any contact??

CNn asked the other 25 members of the Armed Services Committee if they had any reason to have a meeting or contact with Russian Officials last year and so far tonight 19 of them have responded with a loud "no"..

Cuz it makes No Sense...for a senior member of the Armed Services Committee to be having meetings (unreported) with Russians lead ambassador and chief spy recruiter. There is no good reason for or explanation. Sessions hasn't thought up an excuse yet..he is sticking with can't remember tomight..I am sure he will try to spin something tomorrow.

Sessions is the one who decides on any Russia investigation..

He needs to recuse himself immediately...We are beyond the pale here..We need an independent investigation.

The dossier is coming true bullet point by bullet point.

This, well, this is the conspiracy of the century. We have an actual real life Manchurian president (allegedly)

I'm still concerned about that 19.5% of Rosneft

Like I said before, Christopher Steele, the ex-MI6 spy should get a Medal of Freedom from exposing this unholy collusion between Trump and Russia.

There is no way during massive sanctions against Russia and daily headlines about their interfering in the elections ..AFTER the intelligence community issued it's statement naming Russia...and during the whole Trump Campaign/Manafort Russia thing blew up..That Sessions as a Senior Campaign Advisor to Trump and Senator on the Armed Services Committee...Has a meeting with the Russian Ambassador/Lead Spy in his office and...forgets about it..

Not disclosing is not the same thing as LYING. If Sessions wasn't ASKED, there's no need of him disclosing every contact he had with officials of other nations. Democrats need to focus on 2018 and 2020. The months are ticking by...

So Flynn lied about contact with Russia, Trump lied about having a relationship with Russia, and now its out that Sessions lied about having contact with Russia.

Yeah, nothing to see here. /sarcasm

How can anyone deny how bad this smells?

Al Franken directly asked him. He lied by saying that he had no contacts with Russia or its officials. Sessions is toast.

So what?

Sessions was a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, not a part of the Trump Campaign.

Show me Russia hacking the American election and I'll start to care about who has been speaking with Russia officially or unofficially.

Sarah Isgur Flores, Mr. Sessions’s spokeswoman, said “there was absolutely nothing misleading about his answer” because he did not communicate with the ambassador in his capacity as a Trump campaign surrogate. She said Mr. Sessions had at least 25 conversations in 2016 with ambassadors from a range of nations — including Britain, Japan, China, Germany and Russia — while on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Right?!?! The interesting part about reading the responses is to see the cognitive dissonance that comes out from the right wingers. Their first reaction is always to deflect because they can't wrap their minds around how bad this is.

Maybe Sessions didn't have contact with Russians. Is the source credible? Why NOW?

You can stay strong all you want, but the fact is that he lied. Can't BS yourself out of confirmation hearing records.

Good point! Also, if Russians didn't affect our election, there's no need in giving them "bragging rights".

They couldn't prove that Russia had any hand in our elections so the "pivot" to saying "hey!!! look!!! they talked to them...see!!!"

If and only if there is some real evidence that Russian had anything to do with the elections, then I may take all this mediafare seriously. Until then, it's just rhetoric.
