I know the replacement of the SeaKings has been an ongoing process for decades, but I can't seem to find any good info on it. Is there anyone here that can tell me the real story on what helicopters Canada is getting and why it has taken so long?

Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone is the noted replacement but has technical issues so far.

There is a risk that Canada’s new Cyclone helicopter, to be unveiled by the Conservative government Friday, might not have powerful enough engines to do the job, according to Department of National Defence documents obtained by the Citizen.

if i recall correctly back in the early 90's Canada did have replacement helicopters on order. but a Liberal government got voted in and immediately canceled the order and paid something like $500 million in cancellation fees and fines. par for the course for liberals, canceling things and and paying a fortune for doing so with nothing to show for it.
