Haha you can keep your legal system, just be different, same as Scotland, England &Wales, and Northern Ireland are. It works, just have to remember what the differences are "when in Rome" so to speak.

...yep I reckon the queen would take ya'all back as a Crown Dependency, if Trump asked nicely over tea when he has his state visit

If Her Majesty were only outed by the media as the owner of
the colonies (ALL of them) and the Pope were to white her up:
we'd all be a lot better off.
At least back in Wales I'd be with the rest who know how scrUd
we are.
As for Trump, he has no power over the Crown. They OWN the
law and the states. Just get an attorney smashed and ask him/er.
If only the awakening could extend itself to a cursory knowledge
of our slavery... the slavery would melt away.
PS.sorry to take so long. The awakening deserves better.

I do love the Euro sound these days... you're absolutely right, and I didn't even realize it until you said it. Fritz and the Tantrums... Empire of the Sun... great sounds! Now that I think about it, Justin Beiber is essentially riding the coat tails of the Euro sound movement...

Maybe the offer of all recording studios be moved to the lands of the U.S. in the trade?

FITZ and the tantrums is an American band and Empire of the Sun is from Australia....

In many respects whoever you (country) is, is either owned or controlled by the US.

You dont always have to own something in order to control it.

Honestly, thanks for this, it's made me laugh out loud several times. Just the obvious differences seen through responses.

I needed this thread.

Still chuckling at you wading in to calm it down oh fire starter you ...

I'll buy that

Reading 1984 I always considered Airstrip One to be the epicentre of power anyway.
I'd be a prole though so it would be a big meh from me.

I'd dig it for the protection of the constitution as its the greatest piece of documentation ever created
in terms of protection of rights and other such things
however other than that I cant say Id be glad to be apart of another global empire

no thanks !

There is no way they'd WANT to be part of the US. (After all, they've just extricated themselves from the EU....or as I like to refer to it as the EWWWW.....)

Personally, though....I love Britain. Have British roots, have worked with Brits and for Brits (company was a subsidiary of British Petroleum), and one of my best friends is a Brit who immigrated to Canada. (Really love Canada, too.)

What I do wish is that the UK was closer. I know it's only a "pond," but it's a freaking BIG pond.....not to mention the eastern part of this country between me and thee...

On the one hand.

I'd Rather have the UK as a state than California.

On the other.

Just NO.

this is what i like about Brits: tough and just a bit unruly beneath that polite veneer.

Like i said, you guys would fit right in. And not wanting to be a part of it makes you all the more like the rest of the states.

I think youd talk about us like you do California on here, I would agree with a previous poster, that the left wing in America is right wing for us in the UK. As a Brit I've lived in Europe, and I think many Brits would find more in common with Europeans rather than Americans even if we dont speak the same language.

Haha, the polite veneer is an effective tool in a Brit's box of rebellion.

...and I reckon you all should secede from the Fed's, get your power closer to your people in your territory.
I reckon free Britain would be happy to do deals with free Texas.
