If you understood anything about politics,

I've forgotten more than you'll ever understand about it; it's hell getting old. BTW, how many political campaigns have *you* worked on?

you'd KNOW that liberals and socialism go hand in hand.

Since we're back to indefensible statements, I guess you *don't* actually have any proof. Stop watching Fox News and read a book, will ya? your insults for someone else.

If by "insults" you mean asking you to put up or shut up....guilty as charged.

Dean's "successful?" He won his homestate primary.

He was elected to the Vermont House of Reps in 1983. He was elected lt. gov. in '86, '88 and '90. He became gov. in 1991 when the sitting gov. died in office, then was elected to the position in his own right in '92. He was then reelected 4 more times. In the world of politics, that's "successful."

Dean's "A hell of a nice guy?"

Yep, he is.

Do nice guys declare that they hate members of thier rival party and everything they stand for?

Don't remember that specific quote; got a link?

This country needs a strong Democratic party, what it's about to get is a screaming extremist whose only talent seems to be alienating fellow Democrats and scaring the hell out of swing voters.

Why don't you read his record before making a blanket statement like that? You just might be pleasantly surprised.

"I consider calling somebody a liberal, left, democrat, right, republican, conservative equal to calling somebody a nazi or hitler."

This is the single most ignorant thing I have ever read on ATS

Why do you believe the statement shows lack of education and knowledge?

The statement didn't have anything to do with the ideology of the Nazis. I was trying to capitalize on the definitive point that people overuse and misuse words such as Nazi to avoid discussion. I was attempting to compare this short-sightedness with people quickly labeling thoughts socialistic, left, right, etc to avoid discussion of issues.

My apologies for being unclear.

I'll answer that quickly, because my car is running. It shows a lack of education because you don't see the enormity of what Hitler did if you're comparing it to liberal or conservative lables. I understand the point you were trying to make, but your choice for the punch lable was either very poor, uneducated, or anti-semetic in it's purpose. After reading your post, I suspect it was a combination of poor choice and ignorance, leaning more towards poor choice (though I see it as ignorance that you don't see this

I want to point out before I run to work that I'm not saying your stupid (that's more for readers, as you obviously know the definition of ignorance). What the Nazis did just hasn't hit home with you. Hopefully, you'll educate yourself more in the world's history and discover just how horrible they were.

'Nother side note, they are not the Germany of today, that is a totally different nation with the same name it had before.

Then you haven't read enough.
Personally, I'd put a certain former member's tales of drunken late-night chat sessions with an ex-president *way* above this statement.

But I can't say anymore, or the pixy sticks will come out again....
