"Texas" has been "wanting to" for years. So "has" many other states.

Do you want Texas and California to leave the States?

I feel like last time something like that happened we had major problems.

Texas could pull it off... CA could not.

All other elements aside, only TX has its own power grid. The remainder of the union is stuck to the rest of the grid. CA is already falling apart... no way could they afford the cost of separation.

The ring of fire has a better chance to CA's separation from the rest of the states then a political effort does...

Besides... those that live in Jefferson, U.S.A. have already parted ways with the union... and it includes northern CA.

Not really thinking those two would actually leave together though. They sort of seem like opposite ends of the spectrum there.

That is an assumption though. The News media lies a lot especially the portrayal of US cities. They show the worst areas of US like the ghettos.

Nah... CA has been in a water shortage for how many years... with knowledge of this faulty dam being known for years, and is literally letting the one life source that humans need to live break loose.

www.vox.com... roville-dam-flood-evacuation

And, somehow they are going to figure out how to get the power grid in CA to be self sustaining as well? No way could that happen... there is no money to make that happen. I may believe a state can be born from the borders of CA, but no way could CA successfully achieve politically making their own economy. Sure... keep adding stages to make the masses believe all looks pretty in the land of make believe may be possible, but the concept is merely science fiction.

With the current president don't think Texas will continue to push this issue. However pushing more left will get Texas going again. Like other's have said, Cali wouldn't be able to make it but Texas could. Too many resources, lots of companies because of initial tax breaks then low taxes. No state income tax but we flourish while other states struggle just to keep people.

While i understand things would shift in the economy, that's over 20% of the nation's GDP between those 2 States - and both are huge net revenue contributors - meaning, they both contribute far more in federal tax revenue than they receive in federal funds.

Their exit would increase the burden even further on the other few major net contributors, meaning the beggar States of the Union would be losing a majority of the base they are dependent on.

The military would have to be absolutely gutted, and social security would be looted completely for good. The US would see an economic crash that would make the Great Depression look like the 1990s boom by comparison.

It won't happen in either case though, so while this would be one of the worst "doom" scenarios imaginable, it's just a dark and misguided fantasy, nothing more.

Have you ever been to Texas?

It already is it's own country, just ask anyone who lives there.

God bless those crazy Texans

If they did leave the US,good luck comming up with the billion's of tax dollars,if NY left too,US would look somewhat like a communist country, need a tax rate of like 65%,that would be interesting, seems people these days, never think before speaking, because there is always 2 sides to a coin, and you also inherit a who knows true number, trillions in debt, careful what you wish for, anything in the world can grow in Calif, and save billions of Fed tax dollars

We could do it in Texas if it came to that, but Cali is not in any position to pull it off. They're just making noise...more distractions for the easily distracted.

Texas is in a better position. You guys haven't let your local government run rampant. California is much more the 1% and the peasant class that the left rails on about. The irony is that California also is the an echo chamber of their own policy too.
