Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, died this morning. NY Post reports that about 9:30am, the Russian diplomat was working at the embassy when he suffered a "cardiac condition." He was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital. According to the brief Postpiece, he was receiving CPR en route.
Ambassador Churckin was 64 years old and would have turned 65 tomorrow. He'd served in his current role since 2006. There's no indication that he was suffering from any illness in anything I've read and his death is being characterized as "sudden" (as in "died suddenly") by Russia's state-operated RT.
