I don't think they can afford not to because then a crack may appear in the snow job on the public. As yet, and while a minute number of people do know, the masses don't know that the war on drugs is 30 years old and has cost 30 billion, according to a post on here a while back.

Nor do they know that 90%+ of all drugs going into the US come from south of the USA, Only last night i watched a doco on how a grossly under funded, grossly under resourced a group of Mexican police go up into the mountains and take out a small poppy crop, placing all their lives at risk while doing so.

Every body knows that the US milit-tree could fly a half dozen helicopters over these place and spray round up on them.
