Hi again, just a twig in the dirt.

NASA and the University of California are asking for your time to help find the mysterious object allegedly causing some weird things to happen in our solar system.

Astronomers from NASA and the University of California, Berkeley, want you to trawl through thousands of images taken by NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer to see if you can spot Planet Nine.Automated searches don't work well in some regions of the sky, like the plane of the Milky Way," said Aaron Meisner, a postdoctoral researcher at Berkeley. "There are too many stars there, which confuses the search algorithm."

That's where you come in.

Dr Meisner has teamed up with NASA astronomer Marc Kuchner to try to pin down Planet Nine in a project called Backyard Worlds.

"This has the potential to unlock once-in-a-century discoveries. It's exciting to think they could be spotted first by a citizen scientist," Dr Meisner said. The science on whether there is a ninth planet certainly isn't settled.

"It's still pretty controversial," Dr Meisner told Fairfax Media. "The measurements pointing to a ninth planet are taken from just seven distant objects in the outer Kuiper belt."

Think anyone here can help?

If they used the technique in another thread I happened onto they could do it.

I have everything on the parts list: a laserpointer, a box of ziplock bags, a pithfork, a metal coat hanger, roll of foil duct tape, some gunpowder, a bottle of windex, some super hot peppers and a case of Bud Light aluminum screw top bottles.

Let's go find some planet!

Maybe so. I don't know off hand. Seems to be a totally different system. Our solar system vs other solar systems.

First off, get sugar soap, windex is smelly.

Second, what is it with Americans and bud lite. Get some stout for goodness sake. and no, not Guinness. Real stout, than you can put your gear on and it will remain afloat. you can start a fire with real stout. or put one out, it's multi purpose stuff..

and it's good for you.

keeps rampaging unknown planets away too. I drink it, never seen another planet in my life. 100% true.

Exactly. It should be easier to do in our own solar system.

Excellent endeavor, but you can get a real headache looking at those blink charts for too long!
I also like the fact that you can see results over time. Thanks for the link.
