LAKEVIEW, Ore. - A measure challenging gun regulations is popping up around the state. Since 2015, four counties have passed a measure known as the Second Amendment Preservation ordinance, and commissioners in Malheur, Union and Lake counties have heard the same measure in the past few weeks.

Rob Taylor of Coos County is one of the chief petitioners for the Second Amendment Preservation ordinance. He said he wants Oregon to have what he called "sanctuary counties" for the Second Amendment.

The same way Oregon has become a sanctuary state for immigration," he saiu

Why does every thread have to be in the Mudpit nowadays?

It's like people don't even want to have a civil discussion.

On topic, great. There should be more of them.

A gun control free sanctuary coming near anybody?

Probably not.

"There's an Oregon firearms pre-emption law that states that counties, municipalities, cities actually can't make certain laws regarding certain aspects of firearm sales, ownership, storage," Okamoto said. "So these ordinances or resolutions really are largely very symbolic."

So until the pre-emption clause is overturned, I'd say that's a firm no.

I'm in Hellinois, so I'd be a fool for attempting it. But I wonder what the courts would say to me "illegally obtaining a suppressor, certain firearms or accessories", without properly going through the necessary means to do so lawfully?

Probably wouldn't end well because of Trump!

Answer: Minions of the state.

Question: who posts irrelevant comments to me?

Answer: you.

I offered no opinion beyond pointing out that local municipalities have no authority to pass anything like this. The fact that your hardon for me is so great that you're trying to spin this into me being anti-2nd is hysterical.

Thanks to a TRO out of Washington all that can easily be overturned.

The anti gunners literally shot themselves in the foot.

... "sanctuary counties" for the Second Amendment.

Isn't that just another term for "terrorist free zones?"

You must be a minion of the state since you care what your local laws regarding gun ownership are.

One can hardly push for gun control or legitimize it after.

Free and open travel to known terrorist states.

So that means that it'll be the wild west for buying and owning guns? I know where all the cartels will be shopping for their guns from here on out.

Why would they bother? The cartels don't look for hunting rifles and semi-auto's. I imagine it is easier for them to get full auto's through Russia and China . Ammo from the US is more likely, but the good guns that the cartels want/use are not available to the typical US citizen.
