Restrictions on pilot weight put in place by the Air Force for F-35 pilots could be lifted by April. Martin-Baker has completed modifications to the ejection seat, and Raytheon modified the helmet to reduce risk of injury during the ejection process.

Tests of the modifications show a significantly reduced pressure on the pilot's neck when the seat fires. The next step will be taken in March when EMI testing will occur, to ensure the seat only activates when commanded. After that, the Air Force will make a final decision, based on the recommendation of the test team.

Will be interesting to see the specs on the Aces5..
Sounds like a lot of stress in Martin Baker at the moment.

The modification to existing aircraft will be complete by January. They can modify 14 aircraft a month. They will not pursue the Aces 5 seat after all. The modifications made to the MB seat are sufficient to allow pilots from 102-245 pounds to fly the aircraft.
