I'm starting this topic because it should start some interesting discussion between the people that have good knowledge of both the Bible and Ancient History.

The Land of Uz was where Job resided, as is told in the Book of Job. Obviously, there is no presentday land of Uz, but where do you think its location was at?

The Middle East general area to be sure, but more specifically...

Uz was Hebrew for 'Uwts'.
Perhaps this will aide you, or maybe not.

The curtain opens to reveal the land of Uz. We see Uz, but we hear the voice of an unseen narrator: "There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job..." Efforts to locate Uz on the map are vain, for this is not a historical chronicle. The narrative effect of the opening lines, like the opening credits of the movie Star Wars, is to say this is a story which happened "long ago and far away."6

The events described in the Book of Job occurred after the story of Creation, and they do appear to have occurred at the same time as the stories of Jacob and Esau and their families. This would in fact place Job's story at least a few hundred years prior to the time when Moses was born.

The main clues to the location of "Uz" is from where Jobs "friends" come from.

Uz is mentioned in the Bible in these three verses: Job 1:1; Jer. 25:20; Lam. 4:21.

It may have been named after Uz, the son of Aram, who settled this region. Genesis 36:20,21 and it seem to indicate that this area was conquered by Horites and eventually Edomites, and became known as Edom (Lamentations 4:21). But most scolars agree it became the land of Edom from both other places in the bible, and where jobs friends come from

The land is Diamond shaped with nothernmost tip starting at the bottom of the dead sea, and the southern tip ending at the gulf of aquaba (or Isreal) really ruggad mountain area.
