Your charts use satellite data, I am confused to the usefulness of this data as it mirrors ocean data. But it doesn't, yet it does.

Perhaps you are confused because the satellite data is measuring sea surface temperatures, not atmospheric temperatures. SST can be measured directly by infrared radiation, the air cannot be.
