If I die within the week from the Bannon Apocalypse, or Bannaggedon, then I will admit that you were right.

If I am still alive after a week, I'm going to go with "much ado about nothing".

Well geez Cowboy, Rome wasn't destroyed in a freaking day, okay? lol!

Gimme a year, two tops. Mark that calendar, hear?

I will save you a cold one in my bunker if you
Manage to tunnel through...

I think if the left was in power, we could still come to the conclusion of an Apocalypse, minus the prophetic idealogy.

I think we are headed to doom regardless, which kind of reinforces the doom ideology.

Steve Bannon is genius. He is an important asset both for this administration and for our country.

Some people won't see that, however, and I get that. The fear and the uncertainty of not really knowing someone on any level other than what the opposing political faction has put him on can be scary. It's easy to see this rugged-looking deep thinker as a boogie man. But, the man is no slouch.....although his appearance is a bit "slouchy".

He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in urban planning and holds a master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. In 1985, Bannon received a Master of Business Administration degree with honors from Harvard Business School.[31]
en.wikipedia.org...

I think there is some food for thought in the theory of generational cycles in American history. I think it's worth studying and pondering.

What words coming directly from him within their context disturb you?....not what some pundit has interpreted them to mean, but what the man himself has postulated?

I don't see Bannon as initiating any sort of "plan" to create an apocalyptic scenario, but I'm glad he is part of our leadership should something on or near that level take place.

So after 8 years of Obama messing with Russia and when Trump is mending the problems with Putin you are worried about WW3 ??? come on! GET REAL!!!!

This isn't about Putin or Russia, though he is a fascinating subject.

This is about Bannon's ideology and how it might impact relations with, say, China, which he claims we will "inevitably" go to war with in the next few years. That is what he believes - see The vid in the OP at the end.

One thing we need to remember. World Wars can be traced back to small, seemingly disconnected events that then escalate into conflagrations. An assasination. A ship destroyed. Intelligence ignored.

It doesn't take something monumental to collapse us humans into battle.

Yep, and apparently with the media's blessing a community organizer
can subvert America and is awarded a peace prize, then walk off into
the sunset while the country burns.

Yeah, an unelected radical "Rasputin-esque" character whispering in the ear of a nekkid emperor is never cause for concern.

But hey, most posting here are powerless to change anything this monumental so our only option is to strap in for the ride... and to end on a hopeful note, we humans are likely unremarkable and unimportant in the huge scheme of things, so us blowing ourselves to oblivion amounts to a footnote in the Encyclopedia Galactica ... so be happy!

Great doom porn .

This simplistic and rather Biblical-esque, strong-man approach to history and governance is not a good template to follow for the nuclear age.
OK then , can you say Israel ...Poor Iran must be worried . I wonder if there may be a way of looking at this a little different . flash ...newsbud to the rescue www.youtube.com...

Finkle is Einhorn...Einhorn is Finkle!!!

The plot to Bannon and Cheeto thickens!!!

I need a refill on my popcorn!

I appreciate that you have a positive opinion of Bannon and the Trump administration.

I am not arguing against his education or even that he is a "deep thinker."

I do think, and I am arguing, that his philosophy is not benign and could have a wide impact. His expectation, what he sees in the world, is coming pain and doom. This is apparent from his own words.

When I see that, and how close he is to the President, and how our President has been relying on him so heavily for the writing of EOs, etc., I can't help but wonder what direction he sees the country going in.

It concerns me that he may, even unconsciously, bring about the doom HE believes is, given his proximity to the man who can take us to war, nuclear or otherwise, with a word.

I hope you are right. I don't want to be right.

Perhaps someone should check the where-abouts of the "Spear of Destiny".

If he is a history buff. . .

I watched the first video. I agree with what Bannon said.

There is also this cycle
recession-->depression-->currency war-->trade war--->world war

We are entering the trade war stage.
During the 1930's immigration was restricted and mexicans were sent back to mexico. Yes during Our liberal Lord and Savior's reign mexicans were sent back. These mexicans were wanted by americans in the 1920's bubble economy, similar to the 2000's.
Trump offers an infrastructure stimulus, as did FDR.
The US makes its temporary pivot towards Russia.

In both situations speculative finance and then a failure to liquidate debt. Iceland being the only country to liquidate.

I never knew about Bannons apocalyptic fantasies if that's true. I know he is soft power for a lot of white nationalists and thinks highly of some of the figureheads of that movement.

That in itself was enough for me, but this makes it even crazy if true.

If you pay attention to the cycles of history and the situation in China, you know that China is brewing up into a real problem. It isn't that we are trying to pick a fight for them, but they have real problems of demography, environment and economy that will force them to act out in some way to try to preserve what they have and avoid serious internal crisis.

They will externalize.

I understand why you have that kind of fear. But, do you have substantial proof that Bannon is the one orchestrating and writing the EOs. Donald Trump is no slouch either, although the left tries their best to interpret his style in a buffoonish way. The man is brilliant, and I am sure he has not turned over decision-making to his staff. They advise, but Trump decides.

I don't like doom and gloom either, but I am a realist. I look at the generations in American History and I do see a kind of pattern. Is there some organic pathology to its ebbs and flows? The question is worth asking, I think.

Our country has faced horrible times and prevailed. I don't believe in sticking one's head in the sand while things are moving into place that can harm our people or destroy our country.

Sometimes necessity calls for strength of action and powerful responses, whether we want it or not. Should such events arrive to test us, I want that strength....I do not want an ostrich.

I completely understand what you are saying about China - they have issues brewing.

I would still rather someone be in the Whitehouse that doesn't feel war with them is inevitable. We need brilliant diplomacy and strategy to prevent said war, not a philosophy that embraces it.

The world has a delicate balance to it.
