I saw a presentation of Elon Musk describing Mars colonization on YouTube yesterday. It's quite long but very awesome. youtu.be...
While a future possible cost of just $100,000-$200,000 is way out of my league, I still want to go and help. Anyone out there think first comers will get to go for free? I mean, the work involved is likely to be 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week at first... a year or so... I'd do it. Farm, work at foundries, build, make propellant...

That's about the price of one of his cars.
Hard to believe he could send someone to Mars for that kind of money.

Is that the PEPCON video?

I presume that any In Situ Resource Utilisation on Mars won't be done using flammable barrels full of solid fuel. Or be built over a gas main. We hope.

Yah. Solid rocket fuel is still primary lift propellent to orbit.

ETA: Thats why factories that make it are waaay out in the desert.

Sports.
Contemplate ideas concerning the colony(layout, problem solving).
