Sanctuary cities is such a benign sounding term, it might have been a sanctuary for the illegal alien, but it sure as hell wasn't a sanctuary for a young woman walking with her father. CUT THE FUNDING.

The 32-year-old Steinle was walking with her father on San Francisco’s Pier 14 last July 1 when she was shot and killed by an illegal alien, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who had already been convicted of seven felonies and deported five times to Mexico.

I thought you people were pro state's rights. You are, up until the point the state doesn't want to do what the Emperor wants to do.

States rights to set immigration policy?
yeah, cause that will work out well....

Didn't work out so well for AZ when they tried to enforce their own border.

The last emperor said NO they can't.

California is one of the few states that receives less in federal funding than it pays in taxes. If we "defund" California, I hope they stop paying taxes. Maybe that can be a precursor to that secession they want so badly.

How was that racist? Sorry but if they don't want to be subject to federal law then they shouldn't be eligible for federal funding.

If you don't pay your bills, that can happen.
If you don't pay rent, or otherwise violate a rental agreement, a landlord can evict.
That's how the world works.

I don't see a problem with defunding if they don't want to follow the law.

Tenants are legal.

These are bums that walk into your house and sit on your sofa, after going through your refrigerator, eating your dinner and taking your last beer. Then they say " why don't you run down to the store for some more while I have my way with your wife".

But they do pay their rent. In this analogy, rent is paid but the landlord just doesn't like who the tenants invite into their homes.

Anyone know under what authority the president can "defund" a State?

There are certain things that are rightly under federal jurisdiction.
That includes national security and immigration.

Anyone tell me under what authority states can refuse to enforce federal laws ?

Especially when past states have tried to enforce their own laws only to have DOJ sicced on them.

How could Obama threaten to remove federal funding if states did not comply with his bathroom gender policy?

Perhaps California will decide to hold on to the $406 billion dollars in federal tax revenue it generates every year.

Surprise

Another "ham-handed, trigger-finger" action - - - from a the slum lord who turns off electric and heat to get tenants to leave.

Way to stay on-topic.

Considering the bulk of that come from the property taxes for 1200 sq foot million dollar homes.

Maybe they should stop ripping off their residents.
