Anonymous took down child porn sites on the dark web, they also took down many scam sites. Freedom Hosting was the target of Anonymous that said that 50% of over 10,000 sites were child porn.

We are disappointed… This is an excerpt from your front page ‘We have a zero tolerance policy to child pornography.’?—?but what we found while searching through your server is more than 50% child porn…

Moreover you host many scam sites, some of which are evidently run by yourself to cover hosting expenses.

All your files have been copied and your database has been dumped. (74GB of files and 2.3GB of database)

We are selling all data (excluding cp) for 0.1 BTC. Send 0.1 BTC to 14iCDyeCSp12AmhVfJGxtrzXDabFop4QtU and send your transaction id to [email protected] or [email protected] and We’ll get back to you with a full dump.

Up to January 31st you were hosting 10613 sites. Private keys are included in the dump
wearechange.org...

Freedom Hosting is no stranger to child porn, hopefully this gets the ball rolling on some legal issues that will put some scum in prison.

The hackers claimed that child pornography made up more than half of the data that was hosted on the servers.

This is not surprising considering the fact that the original Freedom Hosting hosted as many as half of the child porn sites on the darknet.

Funny how just the other day nearly 500 people were arrested for child trafficking and child porn. And now anonymous doing their part too. Who owns freedom hosting? I wonder if they were able to also steal other kinds of data that could implicate the people behind closed doors.

Edit: lol I should of read the article before positing but was to keen.
So the owner was arrested in 2013 but who continued running this company? And they did get peoples emails in this hack so maybe this is what breaks the fake news narrative of the disgusting things politicians and the richest of the rich have been doing in secret for years.

We can hope, but with 5,000 sites claimed to be pedo, there has to be some large law enforcement orgs that know what the real deal is and are not taking care of business. Is this a safe assumption?

Is this the first tangible thing Anonymous has ever done? Nice work

I'm betting there are many .gov addresses exposed.

Seems like they are getting to the bottom of this pedo stuff. I wonder why and how this can be so prevalent?

I know zero about the darknet. Maybe it seems easy to catch these hosting sites but it is really hard.

No if I remember correctly, there are a number of different hacks, now I wonder how many arrests have been a result.

Messed up stuff, go Anon!

This isn't the first time they've went up against Freedom Hosting. There was Operation Darknet in 2011. The owner was fighting extradition due to having Asperger's Syndrome... Wikipedia - Freedom Hosting

I don't know how that ended but clearly Freedom Hosting wasn't shut down over it. Maybe someone will finally lock up the guy already.

The article says this is "a faction" of Anonymous...I'm assuming this action is coming from the Right...based on P.G.

Hope so, people think tor is unhackable it's never been if I remember correctly it was created by the Navy or some type of us military. As if the creators wouldn't know they probably built a back door on purpose. Only a matter of time until some one with enough computer knowledge and time finds that door too.

What if they took down the FBI honey pots?

ETA:
I asked that because if the original owner was arrested previously, law enforcement might have taken over the assets to catch individuals accessing the files.

Whenever I hear of child porn, my first thoughts are, "Where were the kid's parents when this porn was being photo/filmed?"

In your post, the source has intercepted THOUSANDS of instances of child pornography. I can't comprehend that many children being neglected to that extent by their parents.

In rare circumstances the parents are involved.
Often it is day care, babysitters, or other trusted friends of the family.

If it's done in other countries, it wouldn't be hard to imagine this.

With the human trafficking in just the US, I could see this being the proverbial tip of the ice burg.

umm..

Each year, 800,000 children are reported missing in America, including some who are lost, injured, have run away from home or are abducted, according to the center, the nation's leading clearinghouse of information about missing children.

Of those who are abducted, 200,000 are taken by family members, typically during a custody battle, while 58,000 involve non-family members who are familiar to the child and who typically have targeted the child for sex, Allen said.
