I thought about that a lot. If trump legalized nation wide he would have a lot of supporters for him that were once against him. That would be crazy to watch.

Easy.

If it was allowed by the Constitution, we'd already have free colleges and socialized healthcare.

I didn't vote for Trump.
I voted for Gary Johnson.

I just wanted the Clintons gone. Plain and simple.

In my opinion, I think Trump is doing awesome !

Kicking ass and taking names later. That's how an American president should be.

Empathy, kindness, intelligence... Wall Street reform, greater choice over how our tax dollars are spent, justice system reform, a president that's not beholden to anyone but their voters, Social Security and Medicare to remain public, free tuition at public colleges, single payer healthcare.

Which candidate was offering these things during the last election? I'd like to learn more about how that could have been possible without Trump and/or how it could be possible after Trump.

I like free college and healthcare. Free meaning not paid for by he taxpayers. And a President that can control empathy and kindness in millions of people. Sign me up. I'll join a political party, attend the meetings. Walk across the checkered floor, praise Damballah, whatever I got to do.

I'm just kidding for levity but I hope you see my point. What you are wanting is not possible. A President can't produce empathy and kindness those are personal responsibilities. Nobody will grant the public control over how the taxes are spent. And there's no such thing as free, taxpayers pay for the free things. I pay for the free things.

This is coming from an anti-political party pseudo-independant. No negativity intended.

Namaste, ya'll remember when that was a thing around here? I'm feeling a little nostalgic tonight.

The Constitution doesn't allow things... can you point directly to any wording in the Constitution that would prevent free college and single payer healthcare?

The Constitution restricts government. If there was anything in the Constitution that would enable tax-payer funded healthcare and college, we'd already have it.

It would be, but your wish that there was no religion is precisely you worrying about everyone else.

You worry about everyone else who has religion.

There is one place where Obama was right. The COTUS does tell us what government cannot do. Anything the COTUS doesn't tell us that government CAN explicitly do, it is NOT empowered to do.

Therefore, since those things aren't mentioned in the COTUS, the government has no power to do them.

Thing is that to date, poor execution aside, his EOs have simply been ordering the bureaucracy to more or less follow federal law as it pertains to immigration. Even the temporary travel ban from those seven countries has its firm footing in federal law and has strong precedent in the actions of his predecessors.

The problem is that we've had a regime that was in favor of disregarding the laws they preferred to pretend did not exist.

Right, the Constitution restricts government on what it can do to the people. Congress however is authorized to create taxes and spend tax dollars.

As long as he realizes that non whites are people and equal to whites... I'm good with that. I think a modern day Jefferson would adapt easily.

An open thread to everyone that wants Trump dead or gone.

What is it?

What?

What do you want?

You want Trump dead or gone or broke or in jail. . . . but after that, what do you want?

What laws do you want changed?
What part of the Constitution you want gone?

What do you want?

The guy was elected and everyone has lost their damned minds wanting him gone. Why?

What do you want that Trump won't do?

What do you want that Trump won't allow?

What?

whatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhat????????

I want a president I am not ashamed of. One that doesn't make a mockery of the prayer breakfast and black history month. One that isn't childish, petulant, and smug. One that doesn't fill his cabinet with people who are unqualified and don't even believe in their own jobs. I want a president that is family friendly. I want a president focused on peace, growth, and freedom.

Or just Bernie. Yeah, give me Bernie and I'll be just fine.

And your point?

So you want Trump gone so someone can come in and erase the constitution and enact policies to bring about socialism.
