You can't make things like this up! The party of cronies and corruption is getting rid of an ethics panel established by the will of the people that would fight against political corruption. What's their excuse? The people were too stupid to vote properly!

That's so ironic, since that's what they are constantly crying about "elites" most of whom are much more educated and qualified than your average Joe. In this case it's just pure criminality and "lawlessness"- Republicans' favorite term to describe constitutional functioning of the executive or legislative branches that they don't like. This republican action is an real example of lawlessness, but of course they don't care since Republicans are evil.

Well at least they got that part right

Goes to show you how much your beloved officials care about what you want. You people have been told and warned over and over and over. Might as well be talking to a tree.
You still play your "rah-rah-rah" partisan politics and act as if there's a viable opposite within the Republican/Democrat paradigm. I have lost sympathy, empathy or anything else. At this point, this country and its states get exactly what it asked for.

So...

If I understand this correctly, a people approved ethics committee no longer exists, because those over whom the committee would have had some oversight, preferred to go unmonitored?

In that case, why is mass surveillance still going on? Because I am certain that a significant number of people would rather not be under constant and ethically unsupportable, not to mention probably unconstitutional observation. Oh, wait! The same sort of tactics which prevent effective oversight of the intelligence community, also allow bull like this situation to develop!
