CNN is reporting that a C-130 military transport plane has crashed just north of Baghdad. The number of people on board is not yet known.

This is breaking news on the CNN news channel, I'm searching for more at this time.

Prayers for the safety of the crew and passengers on the plane.
I wonder if this was an attack, because of the elections ?

Reports are that it is a RAF (British) C-130

Still no details on crew.

I hope it isnt hostile action, that would be a huge coup for the insurgents especially today of all days. I pray the passangers and crew are ok.

Tony Blair spoke and said that there were some fatalities. He was not however specific.

LONDON (AP) - Prime Minister Tony Blair said Sunday there were fatalities when a British military transport plane crashed north of Baghdad in Iraq.

Blair didn't give details of the British deaths, but paid tribute to the troops who died when the Hercules aircraft crashed earlier Sunday, saying: "This country and the wider world will never forget them."
