I believe Obama insinuated Trump is "discriminating against individuals because of their faith." Do you agree?

The statement, issued under the name of Obama’s spokesman Kevin Lewis, was the first time that Obama has weighed in on Donald Trump’s presidency. And though it did not mention Trump by name or directly criticize the executive order that he signed on Friday, the implication was one of disapproval.

President Obama is heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country. In his final official speech as President, he spoke about the important role of citizens and how all Americans have a responsibility to be the guardians of our democracy — not just during an election but every day.

Citizens exercising their Constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.

With regard to comparisons to President Obama’s foreign policy decisions, as we’ve heard before, the President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith.

Obama Weighs In On President Trump For The First Time

The debate about whether Trump's immigration ban is a "Muslim ban" or not has been a hot topic on this forum. With Obama seemingly getting behind the notion that it is a "Muslim ban", I think the topic just got even more controversial.

There are millions of busy people out there who don't have time to follow politics closely, but they trust Obama's judgment. I believe a big part of the information war on this issue was just lost for Trump.

Perception is reality sometimes. That's probably true to some extent for both sides of the "Muslim ban" debate.

Its a ban on travel from high risk areas until better vetting can be enforced. Obama may simply be trying to smoke up the fact that his methods look down right radical Muslim sympathetic.

Typical of Obama to play the race card and fanning the flames by promoting misinformation and fake BS. I wish someone would tell him the shut his pie hole and listen to what the POTUS explicitly stated in what he is trying to do. No, this moron listens to all the noise and idiots protesting for the wrong reasons and makes a statement based off what the media sees it as.

So glad I don't have to worry about these issues in my town.

No its not discriminatory by any means. The ban wasn't for a particular religion, the religion being dominant in those countries is a side affect to the terror ties/ issues in those countries. Afghanistan/ Saudi Arabia / Pakistan need to added to the list too.

I think you might have to go a way back to find Obamas ratings high enough to consider what he says ,is not saying to matter in the bigger picture .Doesn't seem to be hard for Soros to manipulate a couple million Americans to get behind any issue weather its true or false ,or weather it matters or not . I think by now most Americans know there are a few million of Americans that just dont get it and probably never will .

Obama is a Muslim and as such is protecting his faith. At the same time he is not protecting America by pretending the terrorist are not Muslim. They are. They are not Polish or Canadian, they are Muslim.

And he knows this.

Poor Barack....he's just saying what they have told him to say. If he is as smart as his sycophants think he is, he already knows his words were wrong. But, what can he do?

He is either not as smart as he thinks he is or he is in lock step with the misinformation league, or he is following orders because his words are listened to by many people.

Yeah that one...

Obama’s administration. In December 2015, Obama signed into law the Visa Waiver Improvement Program and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act, which designated Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia as areas of concern.

But its ok because its Obama.

That was for people without Visas. It's not really very difficult to read it.

Did he even write this? Who refers to themselves in the 3rd person.

And if I'm reading this right, is he referring to Trumps as "The President" or is he still calling himself the President? Because isn't he Former President Obama or just Mr. Obama now?

It's very confusing...

Either Obama is ignorant or he is a liar.

Its been firmly established and proven: its not a Muslim ban. The majority of the Muslim world is unaffected by Trump's move.
