Considering that if he was the type of justice Schumer wants, it would make him part of a liberal majority ... I'm not sure what Schumer wants.

Strong and independent would indicate someone who does not go along with the majority simply to get along which is what would be implied.

Gorsuch was approved for the Circuit Court unanimously. It will be very interesting to see how the democrats handle this.

Schumer wants to be a thorn in the side of Trump because it keeps him in the spotlight. The same spotlight he inserted himself to when his niece became famous.

It can't be undone, but it also doesn't matter. The Democratic leadership publicly stated that they were going to nuke the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees had Hillary won. Exactly! Most of the statements and actions from Democrats since November 8th have been rooted in "payback", "butt-hurt", or just plain old "hate".

They have nothing to lose here and everything to lose late on when they lose power again. I'm not short-sighted like a leftist. I know they won't be in power forever. That's how the system works and every rule and check that gets eroded now will be one more safeguard for the minority that we will wish was still in place later on.

Look how sad the Democrats are that they nuked the filibuster and majority rules for cabinet positions now, and they have only Harry Reid and their own short-sightedness to blame.

There are a LOT of Democrats coming up for re-election in newly red states in two years. There is leverage and Republicans only need 8 crossover votes.

Heck ... I could point out that this new EO madness is also a direct result of the Dems willingness to let Obama use his pen and phone so freely when the Republicans took power in Congress rather than be forced to compromise on the things they wanted to push forward. Now they are reaping the whirlwind.

Can't the left see that if you protest everything, your protest means nothing?
