there are 330 million people in the US.
You'll NEVER convince me that there isn't an American that can do the job for you

May be we can limit H1B visas to 50 / year

There are few instances in specialized areas, but for the most part they abuse the H1 visa for cheap labor like Disney did.

Disney fired their American staff , had them sign NDA agreements , and forced them to train their half priced foreign replacement in order to keep their severance package.

Getting government to put even more restrictions on Business and how companies conduct it.... That's a good idea.

It is a good idea when there aren't fair practices and rampant abuse of the program.

They can, and you are mostly right.

However, speaking from experience, most companies have found a domestic crew is more reliable.

Just sayin.

They should be required to only hire Christians.

If a company refused to hire Christians you'd be the first one calling discrimination.

Jackass...

H1B is choking my community. I really hope he does something. In truth, it impacts me/my area everyday, far more than terror.

Tell me about it, just go around my neck of the woods in the hospitals and see that for some reason our doctors educated in the US has been put aside because the insourcing of hospitals lately.

Even my daughter was pass over for a grant over a H1 B visa student.

So tech/IT companies are evil for outsourcing but the Trump empire are saints when they outsource?

So when was that said, and by whom?

tech/IT companies are evil aholes for lying and manipulating the market for their benefit and willingness to screw over the American worker all the while calling them unqualified .

Its about getting cheapest labor possible and increasing the bottom line for the Big tech companies only and not about bringing in unique specialised talents as they claim.

These are very good high paying jobs that will outlast the manufacturing ones that will be obsolete in 15 years top by automation.

There are Americans that can do every job in America. The problem is, they are already hired somewhere else in the nation.

So, you either steal someone else's employee, or you find a foreigner who wants to come and work here.

It's just easier to get the "eager" foreigner to fill the job, than to canvas other corporations talent pool.

This sort of Hi Tech is actually a bit more complex than playing donkey Kong on an Atari. Most Americans do not have the sheer numeracy skills. A lot of these foreigners will work for a fraction of what a US worker is paid. I hope you feel happy when the inevitable labour cost rises cause an increase in prices for these high tech services and goods.

Do you believe in free enterprise or communism??

My younger brother is a Computer engineer, he makes quite good money running certain agency within the government in my birth home in PR he has already about 30 years experience.

His skills in the math sciences is incredible, since he was a child he was gifted, my math was never that good, but thankfully my two children inherited the skills but none of them works in science.

I wonder if math skills is more of an ability than a learned trade or a combination of both.

Hard work and practice will get you far. If your brother is brilliant he may be his natural ability. The women in my family seem to have a language bump and just seem to pick up languages and grammar easily.

There is a professor called John Allen Paulos who is bemoaning how bad maths is in the USA. That is why they need to go overseas for their expertise.

Priority should be given to US allies as well imo. Much rather have a Filipino than a chinese trying to steal tech and give it to China.

Looks LIke trump might be taking on the Trillion dollar Tech Oligopolies and their practices of outsourcing high paying jobs for cheaper foreign labor . I eagerly await for the draft especially since The Big ones: Google,MS,IBM appear to be already crying.

Something needs to be done about the blatant abuse and lies these companies have been putting out for decades. I wouldn't care if it was fair practices but you can't compete with your counterpart if his cost of living for him and his family is less than half your cost of living.

Globalism could have been a great thing for the world, but they bastardized in the pursuit of the all mighty green.

Exactly, until labor markets are equal, it will never be fair to outsource or have H1B etc programs. Furthermore, it's not enough that we send India HUGE amounts of aid every year, we also enrich their people and the expense of American jobs and wages ????

Fccking sickening.

Companies would have to try to hire American first and if they recruit foreign workers, priority would be given to the most highly paid.

Wait what??? I've visited 37 countries and that's how it works in all of them!!!

About time we protected our workers like all the other countries do. I've known friends kicked out of the UK, NZ, Aus, and Germany for working a job that a National could have performed.

Bravo.

I have no sympathy for corporations that prefer to hire practical slaves instead of provide jobs for their own countrymen.

Same applies to those who rely on illegal immigrat slave labour.

Don't tell me they don't have the money, they report record profits while continuing to destroy jobs and offshore. All so the executives can award themselves greater salaries and ever increasing bonuses.

About time someone went after them.

Actually the outsourced jobs are relatively underpaid. I have experience of seeing how much the big 4 accountancy firms are paying their Indian IT staff also the Automotive companies do a similar thing.

Well get over it! You support capitalism so what do you expect? Unless you are a communist who puts "workers first" and do not give two hoots about profit. I hope you do not have a pension plan a what do you think funds that???
