was reading another forum discussion on Chinese space technology (apparently they have a moon mission planned). the Shenzhou 7 space walk was mentioned and someone suggested it was faked.

It was 8 years ago. I'm guessing there was a thread then but I can't find it now.

anyone remember this? was the walk faked?

and do we think Chin will really get to the moon this year?

There were claims that it was faked. There was no evidence and, let's face it, there are some people who think anything to do with space exploration is faked.

thank you Master Phage.

consensus seems to be that the pro-hoax crowd is wrong and the walk was legit.

I'm sure there'll always be some doubt. we has doubt about Apollo in some corners.

Hell, some doubt that the world is round. Some think that NASA is in on the round Earth hoax. With all that faked data and stuff.

I think China will launch an aggressive moon mission with partial permanent settlement as the main goal. Think deep mining.

The only thing holding them back is the military threat geopolitically they have to possibly counter should Russia weaken in its feign for a check in the middle east.

If we had peace China would be buying rides on our rockets to the moon for the establishment of the first true port in space.

Mars and other missions would be that much easier.

Russia and the US should be pooling with China to secure our species against extinction.

I think technology is the primary reason. A lunar colony is not a trivial exercise.
But they are progressing.

While you weren't looking, the Chinese launched a lunar orbiter to scout a future landing site in preparation for a sample-return mission: www.planetary.org...

I tell you, the news of the first Chinese lunar base will come unexpectedly, and the rest of the world will be like "huh? when did that hapen?"

Those are some fast moving bubbles. It is clearly the debris that always swarms around spacecraft.
