"Where are they going to get their water?"

Good point - desalination plants are expensive, pipelines and foreign trade tariffs are expensive, this new country better be rich!!

I hope they try.

I would hope the US would just let it happen.

Then, laugh while California tries to defend itself with dildo wielding rainbow haired libtards from annexation by Mexico.

It would be comedy gold.

I work in tourism and while I forget what country they are from, but I've heard desalination plants are owned by the dozens/hundreds on AMERICAN SHORES by foreign countries. If they can do it, and it's fiscally responsible, so can we.

Don't you think it might be a good idea to start building those right now???

Oh, and who do you think is going to pay for them, and for what purpose (i.e. so they can secede)?

ETA...BTW those desalinization plants you refer to, collectively, only produce a tiny fraction of the water California requires on a daily basis!!

Let them go.As for water they need to stop discriminating against salt water and not trying to make it conform, drink it as it is,not as society trys to make it!

Let then exit the union, then we will built a wall along the California border and then make them pay for it

I say we give California and all those hippy dippy overpaid liberal actors and actresses what they want.

They want Muslim refugee's in America. That's fine. Lets build some nice refugee camps right in their backyards in their nice fancy neighborhoods and let them practice what they preach.

Then we can all sit back and watch the hypocrisy meltdown party.

The left wing nut jobs in CA are now circulating a petition to secede from the United States.

The issue with California is that it's really two states. The state of American California (predominantly rural and productive, so obviously largely conservative) and the state of Communist Kommifornia (predominantly urban and coastal areas). The first step would be to break it into two, or allow the sane regions to attach themselves to neighbouring states that still hold to American values and decency.

Once that is done, I think they should allow the rest of America to also vote on whether they will let the communist state remain in the Union. There are already people praying daily for California to break off into the ocean, so Kommifornia is bound to get widespread popular support in seceding.

That was Scotland's big mistake with the Referendum. If they had asked England to vote as well (which is only fair, seeing as both parties need agree to a union) then Scotland would have received an overwhelming vote to make like a tree and get out of there. Governor Moonbeam would do well to learn a lesson from that as he leads his people into their brave new future.

However, The Great Wall of Trump will need to be extended along the borders of New Aztlan (as the cartels will promptly rename it).

You know, I suspect California's posture on immigration (legally or otherwise) would dramatically change on day #2 when you factor water into the equation!

Hmmmmmm...I wonder why?

Yes, you are right, northern California is a different country compare to the impoverished south part of it.

Interestingly they should have a referendum to see if the north wants to separate from the south.

Huge loss of tax revenue for the US, near-complete loss of defense for CA. Sounds like a lose-lose situation.

Though I do see CA gradually turning into what will one day be a semi-autonomous, functional socialist cyborg paradise.

ETA: Wow, its amazing how many people are so willing to give up such a massive portion of the US tax base and economy. And how many think one of the most productive, most innovative regions of the nation is unproductive. I don't believe that disagreeing with the opinions and politics of a state is a good reason to give up one of the biggest assets of our nation. Short-sighted and petty.

Good thing refugees from the ME are used to living in dry barren landscapes.

Yeah, the finer points of what exactly this seceding would look like, geographically, is probably a real shocker for most Californian's even.

The most ironic part is, the conservative northern part of CA is far more self sufficient for water...which even further compounds the water question for southern CA. They'd have to fight tooth and nail to keep northern CA part of the new country otherwise they'd definitely be toast!

Virginia tried to secede, and lost the territory now known as West Virginia.
Is there any part of Califirnia that would like to secede from the seceders?

This is what Californians behind this bill have falsely convinced themselves of. First, the new CA (as a country) becomes a buffer zone (militarily). US ports would need to shift northward to OR, WA and AK. Huge infrastructure would need to be reinforced (jobs galore). Second, there's no significant natural resources in CA (comparatively speaking). 'Silicone Valley' isn't named because there's lot's of sand there, it's because of proximity to shipping ports from China. These can be moved.

Not on my tax dollars it won't.

California's posture on immigration would not change, if it did it would increase exponentially if they seceded.

Leaving the United Stated is a futile endeavor for California. They know it, we all know it. However, once they fail, they will be accepted back in. All their citizens will be let back in. As an olive branch. Then the rebuilding of the destruction will take place.

Reconstruction will be the most lucrative plan the left has made in generations. Even more so than the $35 million a mile rail line Feinstein's husband is supposed to be building in California.

Don't look at the problems - look at the solutions. Who wins?

That is funny, but what southern California has become is a border free illegal immigrants safe haven, taking money from the rest of the states to support the illegal immigration.
