France and Germany formed a united front on Saturday following the announcement of President Donald Trump's travel ban.

A spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel says the German leader believes the Trump’s travel ban on people from some Muslim-majority countries is wrong.

After meeting on Saturday, the foreign ministers of both nations, Jean-Marc Ayrault and Germany's Sigmar Gabriel, said they hope to meet with the Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson.

Ayrault said Trump's order on Friday that banning refugees "can only worry us."

SOURCE

The Trump supporter in me wonders if the leaders of France and Germany are a little jealous of what Trump is doing. They no longer have the authority to do anything like Trump's immigration ban, and I feel like they may want to drag the U.S. down along with them.

My cynical side leads me to ask how much of all this is pure politics. For instance, the United States has been part of the cause of the awful situations that created the immigrant problem. Why didn't the French or German governments speak out about the disease rather than the symptoms in this case?

I find it fascinating that with all the horrible things going on in the world, Trump's immigration ban is the thing that world leaders are rallying against. I think it's completely insignificant in the big picture.

The liberal hive mind just can't stand any opposition it seems.

German chancellor Angela Merkel is the latest world leader to wade in on Donald Trump's travel ban, saying the fight against terrorism does not justify putting large populations or religions under automatic suspicion.

A spokesman for Merkel, who welcomed over one million refugees into Germany at the height of the European migrant crisis, said Sunday she believes Trump's executive order which suspends the entry of travelers from seven Muslim countries and bans refugees is wrong.

Yeah.....Cause France and Germany have had such great experiances with islamic refugees.........

They should STFU and look at how unhappy there own populations are with the mass immigration before a Euro Trump appears.........

FFS France look as if they are going to shift far right in the next election, if that happens and France Leave the EU then the EU is dead, the EU will exist no more. Cant the tards in Brussels see that? The UK has already jumped shipped because no one listend!

France and Germany are a trainwreck, on fire, about to explode and out of water. The fact that the citizens have allowed this capitulation is truly sad - like 2000+ years of culture pissed away in less than 5 years and zero flux given about it.

I have no desire to ever holiday in either country again, instead referring to the history books as to what France and Germany used to be.

Personally anything coming from Merkel should be viewed as a possible treasonous act, she is responsible for copious amounts of dead Germans thanks to her BS. She has lost every ounce of creadability.

Also was she not calling for a stop to the immigrant situation (leading into elections of course) and even backtracking a little and saying she was wrong??..

These f#ckers really do make it up as they go along.

Islamic Europe is well underway thanks to the short sightedness of these "leaders". Someone like Trump was never meant to get the white house and so the push for islamification of the USA will be on hold for a bit and no doubt these liberal nut jobs will have to wait for their "forced" cultural soup plans to take hold further out of Europe..

France and Germany have some real problems with refugees. These are precisely the types of problems Trump (like him, or hate him) seems to be trying to address.

While I think Trump could have done this in a more subtle way, he has a point. Perhaps Germany and France could learn a bit of assertiveness themselves. Germany and France need to consider the potential death toll and grief in 2017 through Islamic terrorism and cultural mis-match caused by the current silly immigration policies.

Assertiveness in a regressive left society only works to further the rhetoric that is being pushed, and I think it is fairly obvious that it is to get as many low skilled migrants into the Euro zone and the US as possible.

I think the "mis-matched" statement is huge...

I think of a situation where say something had happened in the UK and for whatever reason I had to leave and became a refugee, it would be absurd for me to try and request asylum in say Malaysia (to pick a far flung destination).. I have no idea about the language, there would be almost zero chance of a job, I would be going to a Muslim country when I would be classed as a christian (I am atheist but that would make little difference), it would be even more odd to be a refugee to then complain about the native culture and how the people around me need to change rather than trying to assimilate into society.

To further muddy the water why would I not head to a country that is more culturally in line with my current lifestyle??, is that not the massive elephant in the room???...

There have been 9 major terrorist attacks in Europe since 2015. The Paris and Nice attacks alone claimed almost 300 victims, Malmo has become the rape capital of Europe, and German police and journalists aren't even aloud to report on the nationality of criminals.

Not to mention the economic strain it's putting on European countries. There just aren't enough jobs to sustain millions of unchecked immigrants, police capitulation is becoming a serious issue, over 70% of all inmates in France are Muslim, and Germany is set to spend over €93bn on refugees over the next 3 years.

It's a complete mess, the UK was smart to abandon ship.

Don't be silly. The drug and gang related violence in Chicago is completely different to the recent upsurge of Islamic and cultural violence in Germany, Belgium and France.

@ everyone telling people that there are so tremendous problems with immigrants in Germany:

Shut.The.#.UP!

You don't know #! You don't live here, you are just following some echochambers narrative!

THe fact is that Merkels decision is widely supported by the people, as we see Trumps actions as stupid as they are. This is a clown!

France and Germany unite for now.

Let us see where both countries are, once their respective General Elections have taken place this year. Europe could look completely different politically in less than 12 months, which means all this faux outrage will just disappear.

It's not like there is a permanent ban on people from the selected countries being able to enter the U.S. It is giving them the opportunity to quality assure their processes, to ensure the safety of their citizens is at the forefront of their policy.

The Globalists multiculturalism experiment isn't fit for purpose and Europe needs to get a grip of the situation and actually start listening to their people.

Trump is carrying out his key campaign pledges and it's nobody's business but the U.S Governments.

France and Germany have no right to be mad at the U.S. basically they signed a suicide pact with Obama`s U.S. when they all agreed to allow massive radical islamist immigration into their countries.

Obama said you go first the U.S. will be right behind you,so france and Germany went first, hillary lost the election and now the U.S. isn`t going to commit suicide by massive radical islamist immigration.

Just because france and Germany were stupid enough to fall for Obama`s ill conceived plan doesn`t mean they should be mad at the U.S. they should be mad at themselves for agreeing to such an insane plan.

No they didnt!

Their countries leaders have united in words in an attempt to not look like fools.
I bet if we asked the people of France and Germany what they thought of stopping Islamic immigration the vast majority would be behind it

But it's who does the killing that's the factor here. If it's a gang turf war, nobody cares. If it's an accident, it will depond whether it's by car, rail, sea or air. If it's terrorists then it makes headline news.

The current leaders of France and Germany aren't doing what their people want. Their heads are on the chopping block already. The they may oppose now but just wait until after their election.
