Congratulations on scoring 5 out of 5,
and in order no less.

Sorry but:
1. I'm not hysterical. I'm just chatting on the net.
2. They are the speakers words. He really said them.
3. Again it is what the person said.
4. Pointing out fallacies in a logical discussion is not name calling
5. I have no political affiliation so what guilt would I be projecting?

I'm not even sure who this person is talking for because I have seen many right wing sources say the US went into Iraq for the oil, they also speak pretty bad about the little beautiful democracy (Israel) that he mentions as a target of liberal hate. But he does make it a point to say that liberals (with a small l) are 180° opposed to "good things".

I guess you took something else away from his speech.

Fair enough.

Myself I have always valued your perspective here on ATS.

This is pretty dry. Didn't care much for it.
For a whole plethora of topics on anti-Liberalism, pro-western civilization that is much more engaging Stefan molyneux is your man

Social psychologist Jon Haidt does a much better job of telling us what separates conservatives, liberals and libertarians.
He goes into the moral foundations and what separates us in an aggregate.

As for the actual video
America is worth fighting for but Iraq was not. Iraq was a geopolitical move. If those trillions during the war would of went in US infrastructure we would have been much better off. We could of had all the high speed boondoggles we could have dreamed up.

Ay ay ay! After watching the video linked in the OP and reading all the comments after I feel like my head is about to explode.

Quick question to anyone in particular:

Being that I am a 23yo female, got pregnant in highschool, not married, unemployed, was 8 years old when 9/11 happened and have only been presented with two reasons as to why, terrorists or inside job and I'm more willing to believe it was an inside job, which side would you think I'm on? Republican or Democrat?

Ten minutes in I turned it off. He began as a nice enough kind of guy but then, almost immediately sank into absolutism.

If you don't want to know, then you don't want to know.

Do you know absolutism? He demonstrates it perfectly by stating that liberals do not just take the wrong side of most issues, they take the wrong side of EVERY issue.

To be fair to Mr Sayet, about half way through the video he challenges himself for using the word "never", ("I know one should never use the word never) and gives an explanation in this case while simultaneously exhibiting great self awareness.

Thanks for giving it a chance, none the less.

Watched the video and found it very entertaining, the man has a great speaking style and an interesting message. I particularly liked the fact that he stressed moral decisions when dealing with morally ambiguous issues and people. I understand the liberal backlash that you are getting, propaganda like all drugs effects people differently...I guess it depends on if you are an addiction prone personality. I equate the liberal agenda with Socialism and have always thought that Winston Churchill summed it up very succinctly:

“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.”
—Perth, Scotland, 28 May 1948, in Churchill, Europe Unite: Speeches 1947 & 1948 (London: Cassell, 1950), 347.

Obama inherited a Status of Forces Agreement. There were attempts to negotiate a new SOFA but the Iraqi parliament didn't support a continued presence of US troops and were not going to sign off on it. As Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said in 2010:

"This agreement is not subject to extension, not subject to alteration. It is sealed."

More importantly, there were elements from within Iraq like Muqtada al-Sadr who was promising open war with US troops if the occupation was extended. Sadr being a prominent radical cleric and also the commander of the two militias that make up the Mahdi Army, Saraya al Salam ("Peace Brigades") and the Liwa al Yaom al Mawood ("Promised Day Brigade").

German snipers killed American G.I.'s for 20 years after WW2.
Then peace finally took hold.
If we had kept our presence in Iraq,
perhaps we wouldn't be contemplating mobilizing our forces in Germany to help with the Radical Islamic Terrorism problem.

Born again conservative?

In case you didn't notice, that was the plot of the video in the OP.

To be honest, there is a 50/50 chance of anyone guessing correctly, unless the answer is none of the above.

And thank you Mike. I have spent a number of years here at ATS 'trying to know'...what conservatives think and how they view liberals because at one time I was a liberal. But at one time in my life I was also a conservative. Having been here among mostly outspoken conservatives I have come to understand and agree with much that is said here. But I have also learned that much of that is little more than repeating parrots, just as conservatives like to point to liberals as being hive-minded.

Earlier in my life I held to the notion that moderate meant lukewarm. And lukewarm to me meant sleepers, sheeple, consumers, those who flowed through life with little self direction, taking their thoughts and actions from the examples laid down to them by their local environments. To avoid this I at one time became a fervent and arch conservative only to find that to be too limiting. I veered away from that and looked at the other side and eventually became an active Marxist. That too was no solution to anyone's problems and moved back towards the center. I am happy that ATS fell into my view as being here has allowed me to see the shortsidedness of both sides which now allows me the freedom to pursue truth and an understanding of the world on my own terms.

I can't pick on liberals anymore. It is like punching someone in a fight and later finding out they are retarded.

You just can't turn the world into your Mom's basement.

Maybe if we hand out trophies, the internet-spread entitlement disease will subside.

Sigh. Another thread promoting division.

Way to go.

You watched a 35 minute talk
laying out one of the most profound insights into American psychology in the last 70 years,
in only 3 minutes.

Amazing /s

Liberals are only able to focus for 3 minutes.... at that point they run out of 'ists and 'isms to shout out.

The Iraq war had nothing to do with liberals or conservatives.

It was a war by and for the NEOconservatives! They are in a league completely of their own.

This Evan Sayet character struck out big time.

Moreover, there is a huge difference between liberals in 2007 (time of this talk) and liberals today. The latter are much more brainwashed.

Would that have been the group he was speaking to?

I went from being a democrat to being a republican to being a conservative.
We didn't do it for oil.
It was to defend america from the 9/11 beating.
If you don't agree (are a liberal) you hate america.

I don't believe there's a 50/50 chance of people guessing correctly. Mainly because I have been tossed into the liberal category based solely on those points I gave out in my original post. I've had more people assume I'm a snowflake than not without ever asking my political views.

a reply to: olaru12

Honestly, based on just the debates I've seen here on ATS between the conservatives and liberals and how some are so quick to call liberals out on their "five year old mindset" I want to be anything but a snowflake!! To announce myself as one would be embarrassing and shameful. No one listens to a liberal, especially here.

My original question was to see how many would assume I was what you so easily referred to as a "snowflake". Truthfully. I'm not. Or at least, I DON'T WANT TO BE. I want to be an antifederalist.
