problem with shortened profile mood descriptions

Just why does the profile site show space for several characters in the mood field but only end up allowing about 14 characters to be saved and displayed? I've always had anything longer than about 14 characters cut off or not displayed. It seems like if someone is going to limit the space for that then someone should also cut down the space to type on the edit profile screen.

just dont make anything more than 14 characters. simple.

Your "mood" should be one word, nobody wants to know more than 14 letters...

What are you saying? That we can't have multiple moods? I may be partially drunk, warm or cold, and engaging in these intelligent conversations all at the same time.

Seems like a programming issue, make a field over 30 characters long but only allow 14 characters to be used. A new conspiracy to confuse on ATS?
