Like I said, I search out the facts. I don't have the time to delve into the deeper meaning of subject matter so I dont have a continuous source that I gather from per say.

Where you go looking is what is the most important.

What "polls" do you trust? Where do you go for fact-checking?

Or could it be that Im a machinist and I stand to benefit from better trade deals and smarter resource management. Could be because my health insurance costs have tripled while getting reduced coverage, but you didnt ask now did you.....

Google honestly. Start at the MSM, find their source if there is one then work my way through the results based on my specific terms.

I can't think of anything that I need to consult a poll for. Fact checking is usually done with a little critical thinking and multiple sources surrounding the subject matter.

Say my most current thread on Saudi Arabia. Check out the wording I used. It was more of a question than an assertion. I made that because there is little to no information on why Trump left it out. That kind of highlights my line of reasoning.

What are your methods on lets say, breaking political stories.

To address those concerns....

Do you honestly think that Trumps neocon Bush styled cabinet gives a flyin **** about your personal situation.

That was just all lip service, however I genuinely hope your economic status improves but I think there are hidden agendas behind this entire Trump phenomenon.

My research and contacts point to a different direction entirely than "Make America Great Again"

Just wanted to jump back in here again. For everyone who voted for a "businessman" to run the country, Trump is not the "businessman". He is a self-promoter, marketer of himself, his brand is him. Of course he is going to say whatever exaggerations and outright falsehoods it takes to sell himself. Why would he market himself, his brand, as anything but the best? He is not a great "businessman", he is remarkable the best, greatest, most intelligent, etc etc self-promoter!

Just like when my husband recently bought a product that was far from what was advertised and had to send back the crappy product, America voted in a crappy product, but unfortunately one that we are stuck with. We can't send Trump back for a refund.

Persuasion. Here is gaslighting for marketing.

Understanding and influencing how your affluent prospect interprets their reality is an intregal part of persuasion.
...
The first is repetitive questioning and this is used to plant the seed of doubt in a person.
...
The second strategy used in gaslighting is to point out things that aren’t there.
....
Specialized knowledge.
...
The fourth gaslighting strategy involves revealing the secret thoughts of others.
....
The final strategy employed in gaslighting is to use the mighty power of the many against the fragile power of the one.

what about Obama and Hillary bringing in millions of illegals and giving them ID's so they can illegally vote? You think none of them voted with their fresh shiny ID's?

That's not true.

Show me the proof please.

I think this underscores my growing pleasure: he is a master at manipulating people.

Im hoping this translates into a repositioning of the US via trade negotiations. The upside im seeing is he is shaking things up enough that when he's done we can't go back.

Good or bad, I think his net impact will be good once all the dust settles. Even if he ends up being Stalin....we can't continue being what we were. And if we have to go through some pain in return for the complacency that put us there, the end goal needs to be the phoenix that our forefathers envisioned us being. So much so that the first seal showed a phoenix, and not an eagle.

I'd hate to see Trump destroy this country through fanatical nationalistic fascism. But I know that pain is the price you pay sometimes. Hopefully the wake up call reverberates forward through generations: you hold the leash, and you own the atrocities of your government. Everyone eventually pays the piper.

Google honestly. Start at the MSM, find their source if there is one then work my way through the results based on my specific terms.

Okay....so. Do you know what SERPs are?

Search Engine Results Page.

I go there too, most often. But it is important to be aware of what you are looking at. Every single outlet out there tries to get on page one of Google search for any specific word or phrase (keyword). LOTS of honest people are learning how to drop keywords into their article copy so that they can appear on page 1 of Google. It is a veritable science. It is internet marketing. Make your product be the first one they see.....and you have to keep up with it EVERYDAY. It's like outrunning an assailant. Being prettier or smarter or more expert or more prolific and engaging online.

It is a racket just like everything else. The results you find on a "Google search" first page is where the ones who manipulate the entire scheme PAY TO BE. I, for example, have a website.

If I want to get on Google's first page, I have to pay for it, or do the legwork myself, which means scanning the entire net for trending topics, identifying the 'most searched' items, and then using those 'keywords' gleaned from how many times Google gets a quiry.....

keywords.

If I have a website about cooking, but the latest trending thing is Lindsey Lohan, I can scrape a bunch of stuff off the web, drop the phrase "Lindsay Lohan" into every paragraph of a blog entry for my cooking site, and I MIGHT get some viewers because I'm further up on the "keyword search results" outcomes than someone who has a cooking site that never mentions her. See, I've taken a year-long course in how to do that. (Someone laughed at that before, but I don't care.) I have also taken classes about how to comb a website and determine whether it is actually just scraped crap intended to get clicks (20 things you never knew about Kim Kardashian!) .... or actual information. ....

you all can laugh at that if you want, but that, my friends....is HOW IT IS DONE.

Anyway -- I don't give a crap if none of ATS takes me seriously. I know what I know.

I'd like to think we can change this country without having to suffer a Stalin to do it

Too many people had to suffer and die at the hands of that monster - and Russia is still not over it

Anybody who knows anything about the internet, knows this is all true.

Ofcourse Google ranks pages based on revenue among other things ( like what they don't want you reading).

That's why when you type PRETTY GIRL into google the first 10 thousand results, aren't porn, because google makes sure they aren't. Also, learning or taking courses about how the world works, in respect to the internet, isn't stupid at all.

Just sayin'

I saw this coming along time ago and I'm fortunate to have options, friends and enough money to watch the pain America will suffer in the coming fascist years; on TV from some tropical island bar where people don't hate people with differing Ideas and darker skin color.

I'm so glad I made the decision to never have kids. They would have been the one's to pay the piper.

Nonetheless, i do not believe her professional scope carries diagnostic criteria as a tool.

How very disrespectful.
I was a clinical psychotherapist with responsibilities to interview, diagnose, design a treatment plan tailored to their needs and personalities, and then carry it out. People with mental illnesses and adjustment disorders alike. I had dozens of cases on my list. I was responsible for outcomes. I know what I'm talking about whether you like it or not.

Beyond that, I am also very qualified in group dynamics, systems theory, macro-level analysis, and deep ecology.
It would help if you would just accept that. It is the fact. Why do I have to defend myself? There are only 2 or 3 of us on this site who have those credentials. It's unseemly, untoward, and combative to ignore them.

Maybe you can say what do you think someone who's been so brainwashed by a cult that they favor the butchering of innocents should be considered? When a country has 80~% of the population in favor of the butchering of innocents, what do you think about such populations and about whether we should allow such into our country or not?

And what would you label those who mindlessly defend allowing such into our country?

LOL!! I'm a writer. I write drafts in stream of consciousness mode -- go back and read what I wrote, and then tweak it. It's the only way I can keep my thoughts organized on the fly.

Now. I was just thinking about you.

How about this: if you are serious about finding common ground, let's find some mutually acceptable sources and then go over what is presented by them.

I read The Atlantic for daily news (subscribed to their newsletter and print rag), listen to NPR radio and look at NPR online. I read Reuters and McClatchy outlets. I look at scholarly articles and watch TEDTalks. Those are the sources I find to be legitimate, intelligent, and substantial. Also, I don't know if you saw it before it was shut down, but watching C-SPAN and actual hearings and press briefings. I can't keep up with all of them, so I watch clips online.

I check out CNN, BBC, and when I can stomach it, FOX. Breitbart is a joke, and it pains me a great deal that Bannon (that red nose is indicative of serious alcoholism, btw) and Conway are his advisors. I find both of them to be smarmy talking heads. It bothers me a great deal that these people are presented as experts on anything at all.

It is truly revolting.
I trust Paul Krugman, Noam Chomsky, Robert Reich, Bill Moyers, Rachel Maddow, Maura Liaison, Jeremy Scahill, and now possibly Megyn Kelly - now that she's left her abusers - to give me serious journalism. I do NOT take Fox seriously and will not go to war with you or any of my family members regarding their shenanigans. The sites I have decided are crap are not going to waste my time and energy telling me lies. I hope you can respect that how you feel about Alternet is how I see Fox. I give equal respect and some of my time to The Hill, Politico, RCP, and other serious outlets.

I do not accept Beck, or Limbaugh, or Infowars, or any of the preachers as valid sources. Any of the acceptable sources I am more than willing to discuss articles and points with you. Being brow-beaten with Alex Jones crap I will not tolerate.

You could give me a list of the sources you trust, and we'll see if there is any crossover.

infowars does go into extremes about transhuman apocalypse, genetic engineering, etc. Probably to rile things up. But the thing is they do show sources in at least some of the stuff I've watched. When they show the pre-edit interview with Bill Clinton, think it was CNN, when he says frequently regards hillary's falls, live on video, and later that's edited out of the MSM follow up broadcasts. Or when he gives links to cnn showing they're lying about the inauguration crowd, showing the filmed before the event started, and he shows CNN's own photos from their own website published at a later date discretely showing massive crowds at the inauguration. Well it's cnn itself contradicting itself with its own footage.

many who voted for Obama switched and voted for Trump.

No... they switched and voted for BERNIE. We NEVER wanted her. Bernie was the patsy in all of this.

I say we have a do-over election. Let's see someone Executively Order THAT!! Hey Judicial Branch! You're up!! This entire debacle is null and void as far as I (and tens of millions of other people) are concerned. The man is a lunatic on par with Qhaddafi, Jong Un, and Duterte and all the others. Despots. Intellectual cave men with money and an office.

How the US is dealing with it is totally ad-libbed, improv. It will NOT stand. We won't stand for it.
I'm happy to see some of his supporters who are members on ATS coming around to the reality and seeing it for what it is.
A mess. A STUPID MESS.

He belongs in a mental ward, but I'll accept locking him in his Tower instead. Tower Arrest. Way at the top, like Rapunzel.

All the world can see it except for those who don't know better. Yet. And even THEY will eventually have to "come to Jesus" and admit it. Their grand plan is a big fat fail. We are now the embarrassment of the world nations.

Trump ate into swing states and blue states, Hillary got less votes than Obama everywhere except california. In the rest of the country Trump won popular by over a million votes, largely thanks to minorities, independents, and yes even democrats. In california Hillary got so many votes she surpassed Obama, and managed to get so many that it alone managed to swing popular her way, it was this state alone that gave so many votes as to overturn a popular win in the rest of the nation by Trump.

Which is amazing as most MSM and most celebrities were pro Hillary, and carrying out basically 24-7 demonization of Trump while glorifying Hillary. While the elect president campaigned for her.
