(i forgot how to throw metal horns on ATS here)
Hell to the yes.
Any album up until and including "And Justice for All" is in high regards to me. The rest of their works are meh, hit and miss.
The Four Horsemen

Master of Puppets

Orion

Sanitarium

And Justice For All

Blackened

there is many more, and i had to bite the bit.
I went a bit cray cray on this hehe.

I agree, totally. The albums that came after weren't the same. These ones will forever remain Classic Metal the Best of the Best!

I have to agree the "Black" album should get it's deserved dues.

It all started to flail after Cliff Burton's death, how tragic that was. They were all in the bus and witnessed as it flipped and crushed him. I can't blame them for being distraught. And he was the real musical talent in the bunch.

After Cliff Burton died, I'm not sure even the Band thought they could go on. But they did, and they kicked ass. These albums were the best of the 80's.

Ride the Lightning was my first album. Kind of a funny story. I bought the tape as a christmas present for a friend. I actually had never even heard of metallica...i just bought it cuz the picture looked cool. I didnt see my friend for a while and ended up opening the tape and once i listened to it i was hooked!

good times.

There is nothing bad I can say of the albums before the "black" album(although that one has many good tracks). The rest of them(before) are golden, maybe a meh song on each album, yet not enough to diminish the greatness within.
Cliff Burton was the initial soul and talent for most of these, a classical music family. It can be heard throughout these albums.

These I have to put here...it is VERY RELEVANT TO CURRENT POLITICS AND ATS IN GENERAL...Scary truth.
Eye Of The Beholder

Lyrics

Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offence
Your silence for your confidence

Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination, keep you where they must

Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?

Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception

Do you fear what I fear?
Living properly
Truths to you are lies to me

Do you choose what I choose?
More alternatives
Energy derives from both the plus and negative

Do you need what I need?
Boundaries overthrown
Look inside, to each his own

Do you trust what I trust?
Me, myself and I
Penetrate the smoke screen, I see through the selfish lie

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception

Do you know what I know?
Your money and your wealth
Your silence just to hear yourself

Do you want what I want?
Desire not a thing
I hunger after independence, lengthen freedom’s ring

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom no longer frees you
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Frayed Ends Of Sanity

Lyrics

Never hunger
Never prosper
I have fallen prey to failure
Struggle within
Triggered again
Now the candle burns at both ends

Twisting under schizophrenia
Falling deep into dementia

Old habits reappear
Fighting the fear of fear
Growing conspiracy
Everyone’s after me
Frayed ends of sanity
Hear them calling
Hear them calling me

Birth of terror
Death of much more
I’m the slave of fear, my captor
Never warnings
Spreading its wings
As I wait for the horror she brings

Loss of interest, question, wonder
Waves of fear they pull me under

Old habits reappear
Fighting the fear of fear
Growing conspiracy
Everyone’s after me
Frayed ends of sanity
Hear them calling
Hear them calling me

Into ruin
I am sinking
Hostage of this nameless feeling
Hell is set free
Flooded I’ll be
Feel the undertow inside me

Height, hell, time, haste, terror, tension
Life, death, want, waste, mass depression

Old habits reappear
Fighting the fear of fear
Growing conspiracy
Myself is after me
Frayed ends of sanity
Hear them calling
Frayed ends of sanity
Hear them calling
Hear them calling me

Thanks for adding the lyrics, I really liked the first one. They're both really good though. I could've been a Metal song writer, once long ago..
