An Inconvenient Sequel

Al Gore has made a sequel to his "climactic" hit film 'An Inconvenient Truth' where he discusses the dire situation man could be facing if action(s) are not taken to reduce impacts on the environment. In An Inconvenient Truth he shows the impacts of fossil fuels on our atmosphere and the secondary effects on nature. Now, in this sequel, titled 'An Inconvenient Sequel' Gore discusses the improvements that have been made around the Globe since the first film as well as actually visit the places most affected by Global warming.

Now, a little over 10 years since the original film first hit theaters on May 24, 2006, a silver-haired Gore is back with a follow-up called "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power." The documentary, premiering at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival earlier this week, chronicles the progress made over the last decade to address the climate crisis, as well as Gore's personal efforts to educate and empower citizen activists around the world.

I do think this is a topic which needs to be in the spotlight, but I'm not sure there needs to be a sequel to A.I.T. just like there doesn't need to be a sequel to the Bible. The awareness is there thanks to the first film so what will a sequel accomplish? What does ATS think?

Yes, it included some fear-mongering. However, what's important to me is that it opened people's eyes to Man's effect on the environment. It made people just a little more accountable to Mother Earth.

Gore's Predictions Fall Flat

Ten years after Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" guilt/fear producing predictions, let's close by examining just how accurate his "science" proved to be on his way to the bank.

1. Rising Sea Levels—inaccurate and misleading. Al was even discovered purchasing a beachfront mansion!

2. Increased Tornadoes—declining for decades.

3. New Ice Age in Europe—they've been spared; it never happened.

4. South Sahara Drying Up—completely untrue.

5. Massive Flooding in China and India—again, didn't happen.

6. Melting Arctic—false—2015 represents the largest refreezing in years.

7. Polar Bear Extinction—actually they are increasing!

8. Temperature Increases Due to CO2—no significant rising for over 18 years

9. Katrina a Foreshadow of the Future—false—past 10 years, no F3 hurricanes; "longest drought ever!"

10. The Earth Would be in a "True Planetary Emergency" Within a Decade Unless Drastic Action Taken to Reduce Greenhouse Gasses—never happened.

A while back, the Washington Post stated in an expose that, "Al Gore has thrived as a green-tech investor." Coincidental?

Oh yeah and Al Gore has been referred to as the first self made Carbon Billionaire. From pushing Global Warming. Or as I'd rather call him, a liar.

Looks like this year is an anomaly. As with anything else, you will have 1 year in 40 or 1 year in 100 events. Where is a good site to keep an eye on the sea ice area data?

America's 'One-in-1,000-Year' Flood Events in 2016 - 3 happened. There were more 1-in-500 yr floods, etc...

meh, the world is a big place, these events are common, always have been, always will be. When they hit heavily inhabited areas, they make headlines, kinda like the fire up in Alberta. Nothing special about that fire, other than it hit the one city in that area. Rest assured there were many more than just three 1 in 1000 year weather events in the USA last year, they just didn't happen where they would make headlines. Understanding better what a 1 in 1000 weather event actually is will help.

I guess it's understandable. He needs money from ticket sales. Has anyone seen the price of Lear jets or the fuel costs to run them? Poor guy is losing money jetting around the world to announce the dangers of jetting around the world.

The movie should be free for the people to watch. Really, Hollywoods carbon footprint is huge, they're always needlessly blowing things up and wasting resources. I say tax em!
