The media is attempting to manipulate people by saying the attendance was poor, in an effort to undermine Trump.

I'd be willing to say that the majority of people do not care one bit about the attendance.

Trump is the one that cares. His ego compels him the be the best at everything and he will not just let it go and move on.

Exactly. This is strictly ego driven and that's what makes it so disturbing. The most powerful man in the world got his feelings hurt and now he's going to make everyone pay. That's a chilling abuse of power.

All the Administration had to say is that of course turnout was down - DC and the surrounding area is heavily Democratic, most Trump supporters were working hard on a Friday and don't have the luxury of time off and it was raining.

Spicer could have further added that Trump supports women and minority issues, only differing in certain policy areas, and was pleased that so many Americans showed up to exercise their Constitutional right to gather and protest, it's what America is all about.

Boom. Wind out of sails. Controversy over.

But nope, he came out and flounced for Trump by proxy, who was probably flouncing in the Oval Office. Someone close to Trump needs to have a Come-To-Jesus talk with him, as we say down South. That ain't gonna fly.

My concern is that this strict management of information and maniacal perception control is straight out of the Putin playbook.

the big thing everyone is ignoring is the fact that the MSM and everyone else has drummed it up that there "could" be some sort of terrorist attack on the inauguration .also the fact that there are protesters and all kinds of other drama about this inauguration , they were making sure that most of the average citizen wouldnt attend , not to mention people being attacked for supporting Trump. But yea you libs win Obama is soooo much better because more people came out to his inauguration.

I think you might be misinterpreting what happened here.

The media intentionally attempted to undermine our President - just as they did throughout the election and since he was elected.
And they will continue to do so.

It is correct to make it clear to them now that they can not lie and manipulate the public to meet their own agenda.
They are going to be working very hard to make Trump look bad no matter what he does, because they want Democrats in office.

THAT is why Trump called them out on it.
The media needs to be responsible and not manipulate the public.

This is what passes for Trump criticism?

The next 4-8 years are going to be *dull* if this is all there is.

But you have no problem with the Press Secretary lying to the American People, on behalf of Trump?

Seems a bit...what's the word..biased?

So posting facts they attempted to undermine Trump's ego....

they can not lie and manipulate the public to meet their own agenda.

So only Trump and his little trumpets are allowed to do that!

THAT is why Trump called them out on it.

No, Trumps ego insisted his inauguration was larger than Obama's, as Trump had to be the biggest

The media needs to be responsible and not manipulate the public.

So only Trump is allowed to tell lies, the media must say what Trump tells them to.

It is so funny listening to the little trumpets trying to spin the facts!

Exactly.

Given the way that Trump has conducted himself so far, I have to question if he really does surround himself with the best people, or if he surrounded himself with Yes Men.

The best advisers would be telling him to forget about the media, forget about your ego, and do the work he was elected to do.

Spicer did not lie.

The Neilson ratings show 10 million more viewers for Trump than Obama 2013.

Internet streaming numbers set an all time record for any event ever.

They did not attempt to undermine Trump's "ego".
They attempted to undermine public faith, and to give the false impression that Trump has little support.

Let's assume you are correct.

How does the "appearance" that Trump has little support change his actual support, or his ability to do his job?

I'm not misinterpreting anything. The Administration made the choice to send out Sean Spicer - in his first presser during this administration - to offer up poor arguments on a vanity, in the face of facts.

Spicer could have come out and said ANYTHING. He could have offered up info on the previous 24 hours. He could have laid out the next 24 hours. He could have talked about the executive orders. The first 100 days , anything. To pivot the narrative from the protests and try to be positive.

But he was sent out to beg the issue, which he did poorly and embarrassingly. Only to be followed up this morning by Kellyanne hauling out some Orwellian doublespeak to double down in support of her boss's hurt feelings.

That's what happened. That's what this administration has already resorted to. Lying and whining. THAT'S not what the millions of crossover voters, like me, who took a chance on him, are looking for. That's what tweens do. Children.

Direct quote from Spicer:

this was the largest audience to ever witness the inauguration period both in person and around the globe.”

There's no way for him to know this.

“This was the first time in our nation’s history that floor coverings were used to protect the grass on the mall...That had the effect of highlighting any areas where people were not standing while in years past, the grass eliminated this visual.”

This is also not true, they were used in 2013.

So yes Spicer LIED. This was about Trump's EGO. Had it not been, Sean would have been happy to take questions from reporters who wanted to argue the 'alternative facts' he was presenting.

Also, your streaming source, is for ONE source. One Company...Hardly world wide. And also, is only an indication that more people have computers and access to the internet in 2016, then they did before.

Television viewers and more importantly internet streamers were part of that audience and the numbers bear out,

I don't think it's strictly ego driven, but more about political inexperience.

However, the manner in which you suggest it should have been handled is 100% dead on. It remains to be seen whether or how long it takes him and his people to get better at that.

You conveniently left out the parts where I showed you Spicer Lied.....

And no, it doesn't pan out, cause he can't use one streaming source, and then the neilson's ratings, which were 8 million less than Obama's inauguration in 2008 mind you, as the only measures of success.

So even his claim about the ratings, is false.

Why are people acting like it's a surprise? Obama was the first black president so that in itself is going to draw a crowd. Clinton is a woman so that would've drawn a bigger crowd. Trump is a Trump, a white male. Of course there will be a smaller attendance, that's how it works with white males. There's nothing special about us, so we don't draw bigger crowds. It's pretty simple, it's not very special or even very newsworthy either way.

Trump is clearly a somewhat anti-establishment, conspiracy considering white man. Quite why people on a conspiracy website can't fathom that, someone who sort of purports these ideals is "less popular" among the masses. I mean, are you a popular person - loving your conspiracies and flat earths and aliens? Maybe you are. Or maybe you surround yourself with people who eat up bull# like there's no tomorrow, and you can't understand that when that sort of approach is put in front of the masses they um an err.

Trump thinks the media are ****. Theoretically, most of us here do too. Quite what the problem is, I don't know.

Plenty of people support Trump. As we've learned, a lot of them don't talk about it, because

...or did you forget?

It doesn't, except in an Oligarchy, or similar.

Exactly, only Tyrants, demagogues and otherwise people with giant EGO's get upset when the news reports some crap that only effects their ego.
