This quote by Plato sums up my thoughts on the matter, because America (her economy and social division) needs fixing and existing methods over the past 50+ years have proven ineffective.....

In politics we presume that everyone who knows how to get votes knows how to administer a city or a state. When we are ill... we do not ask for the handsomest physician, or the most eloquent one.”

It was an attempt to crap on a Trump speech from a position of complete bias. OP used an article from a left-leaning source to support his/her bias.

Exactly. Trump may not be the most handsomest or eloquent President (when delivering speeches) - but time will tell whether he'll be an effective one.

I totally got that part, I was just trying to figure out if the C.I.A. were suddenly victims or if it's just any chance available is a chance taken type thing.

Oh, wow

Wouldn’t it be great if we all could wake up tomorrow and miraculously we had another president, Hillary, Obama again, Bernie, even Romney and find out this has all been a bad FAKE NEWS dream and Trump is still hosting Apprentice and all is well

No, not great at all. Let's add another 10 trillion to the debt, hey what's $30 Trillion? Why not open up the borders, another 10 or 20 million welfare sucking socialists, why not? Hey why not go to war with the entire ME, or start WW3 with Russia? Give a corrupt, incompetent government control over all of our healthcare? Why not allow bad trade deals to ship 10's of thousands of good paying U.S. jobs out of the country? God forbid we have a business man run the country, who knows, he might actually make some good deals for the U.S., gasp, how terrible!

Bruh. Did you really just go right to Hitler? I mean I know that's a common meme when it comes to Trump but...seriously?

Your entire freaking point is that he didn't mend fences with the intelligence community. Got it.

Except members of the intelligence community were the ones applauding him and laughing at his pithy comments. But somehow that doesn't count in your book, because somebody in the media told you it doesn't count?

Dismissing it as "just polite applause" is asinine and infantile. Nobody was obligated to applaud him there. It wasn't Congress, there was no party obligation to stand up and clap for him or laugh at his comments.

I've never once said they applauded every last thing he said, so I'm gonna go ahead and torch your strawman like it deserves.

The hard-on some of you folks have for Trump rivals the hard-on others had for Obama. It's hysterical to observe so many on ATS doing the same things they decried when others did.

There were laughing and applauding before their new boss

If that's the case, then why wasn't everybody doing it? Why is the director going to the media saying he's mad? Can't possibly be because some people are okay with him, right?

At some point, hopefully, logic will return to debates on ATS.

The FORMER director of the CIA didn't go to the media. It was a FORMER employee of the FORMER director, who tweeted out a statement saying that FORMER director John Brennan was "deeply saddened" by Donald Trump introducing himself to CIA employees Saturday. Can't get much FAKER than that, LOL.

Here's the full speech.

Cringeworthy.

What the # is this asshole even talking about. I couldn't make it to the end. I'm embarrassed for our nation and I am especially embarrassed for the clowns that voted for this dumpster fire.
However, I am not surprised. The gerrymandering that took place in 2010 literally stole our "democracy" away.
This buffoon could literally shoot someone on 5th Ave and his water carriers would be ready to report it as fake news and media bias.

Ex-CIA chief Brennan bashes Trump over speech during CIA visitext

www.cnn.com...

"Former CIA Director Brennan is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump's despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA's Memorial Wall of Agency heroes," Nick Shapiro said in a statement. "Brennan says that Trump should be ashamed of himself."
One source who attended Trump's appearance said many people there were troubled by the political aspect of the remarks, in which the president speculated about how many people in the room may have voted for him.Trump spent much of his speech -- which he gave in front of a memorial wall that honors the 117 CIA officers who have fallen in the line of duty -- focusing on the size of the crowd size at his inauguration, his appearance on magazine covers and saying he "has a running war with the media."

For people who think there was no problem with the speech because a few Trump fanatics clapped like seals at the speech

that we should have “taken the oil” in Iraq (a notion that is politically daft, economically unnecessary, and militarily all-but-impossible) and that maybe we’ll have the opportunity to do so now.

Not only does the emperor have no clothes, he's insane!! He is still in campaign mode. I had feared that he would not be ready on day one, or two, or three,.... He's The Donald, he's 70, he will never be ready! Any "hope he'll change" is over.

Look, for anyone liking that speech, go sign up with a military recruiter, or sign your son or daughter up, or your grandson or granddaughter. Remember... he wanted to "bomb the # out of" ISIS.

I remember when Obama was crapped on for not wearing a big enough flag lapel pin or not saluting marines properly as he boarded AirForce 1. Trump standing in front of the Memorial Wall and giving that speech after calling the IC Nazi's, is nothing short of bizarre and disrespectful. Guess parameters of respect have changed

Since when have we as a whole on ATS ever cared what anyone currently or formerly working for the CIA said? Seriously, why would you act like they are an objective and credible source for how you should view someone or something?

I am Phage watching the speech watching this thread. You guys have completely lost your minds.

edit* This is out of context because Willtell original post was about the former CIA Director being disappointed. Not that my words are important, but I am not actually an idiot, I just play one on ATS.

Well at least he writes his own speeches and is not a slave to the Teleprompter. How we forget so quickly about Obama's inability to say a complete sentence off the Teleprompter his first two years...lol

Should I post his seemly unlimited gaffes all searchable in YouTube for you?

Why is it that the left is so smug still? It is not attractive to say the least. Can you all just get over the fact that he is not a professional politician?

It seems at the end the front line was CIA leadership that stood the whole time and gave a few curious claps, but the 300 plus regular CIA employees packed in the back gave him a large standing ovation at the end. So on one side you have all this leadership that want the typical Washington politician (stay within the lines) that are not happy with him and on the other side you have the general CIA employee population that thinks his speech was great. Who really matters here? I'll say the employees....

Mistakenly saying something is no where near the level of gaffe of saying something wrong or stupid, but beveling what you said falsely as truth. Don't take everything less than face value. Knowing when you're incorrect is a huge part of learning what is correct.

Yeah sure, Obama said fifty instead of forty once. Trump says things that are unimaginably stupid, but worse, he believes them.

a Vintage Trump speech set to set things right with the CIA likely exploded like a bomb with the CIA people

Could be, could be.

Sources say Trump's CIA visit made relations with intel community worse

An official said the visit “made relations with the intelligence community worse” and described the visit as “uncomfortable.”

I wondered about the cheering...

Authorities are also pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.

and the obligatory false reality

There were about 400 members of the workforce who RSVP’d for the event out of thousands who received an invitation in their email late last week. Officials dismiss White House claims that there were people waiting to get into the event.
