I've never heard so much talk about god and jesus at a political event like this.
WTF is going on?
I feel like he is trying to incite some kind of holy war.

Is this standard procedure for these kind of events? Am I just out of touch??

2000 years of this by pretty much every leader

Yeah, it was a little jarring. He says "every single one" of us is not going to be forgotten and then talked about being protected by his gods and all about his gods' people.

A bit ominous, if you ask me.

And creepy. Really really creepy.

It seemed like a rather obsessive focus this time, though. Did you watch it?

I don't remember all of this rhetoric when Obama was inaugurated.
Not even Bush was this over the top.

Seriously. whats going on?

I did notice references to Jesus in the invocation (not that uncommon), and Trump's emphasis on "God's protection of America" and God Bless America, but he also mentioned opportunity for all regardless of being 'black, brown, or white'

I know race and religion are two separate things, but it doesn't seem to me that he's being exclusionary

I am listening right now and couldn´t stop laughing because of Trump repeating God and Jesus in every sentence three times.

But i guess religious nuts are only religious nuts if they are not christian...

But why??
He's done with them. Their job is over.

Trump is not even slightly religious and I smell a Skunk!

Not yet. But wait to see what "God" "tells" him to do.

Our leadership (once again) is White Christian Males.

The "Good Old Boys" are back in power. This time with millions of dollars.

Yeah, but it wasn't so explicit and direct as this. Also, Bush was an actual Christian. For an agnostic/atheist like Trump, the Jesus pandering felt like it had a precautionary warning to it. I'm sure I'm not the only non-Christian who felt a bit less safe when listening to that.
