I second what Seagull says.

If that little voice in the back of your head says it's time to leave, listen to it . . .

If possible have something olive green to look at in case of a pink overload.

I'm in Virginia. We are driving up Sat morning. Leaving here sixish. Gives us plenty of time to park and catch the subway into the city.

Or maybe you are woefully uninformed and don't have a clue what it's about.
Could that possibly be?

Almost 5am, truck stop... somewhere in Mississippi.

To answer a concern from earlier:

The protest "license " is actually for a rally and parade, so streets where we are allowed to march will be closed by the city before we get there. This is standard procedure for protest marches. We are, as Seagull said, interested in expressing our views; not in harming people or property.

Someone brought a video, "Big Mama's House" and played it on the bus TV. It helped pass the time. Most of us managed a nap or two.

Tonight we'll be in a hotel and I can post links and possibly photos.

It IS scary when your kid heads off to a big event. Hopefully she will be with friends. I will be with one of the Houston groups (a news report indicated there was more than one. )

With that movie, I think I'd have got off the bus and walked the rest of the way...

You be careful, too.

There always seems to be someone who wants to cause trouble.

safe travels to you and your fellow travellers

i tip my hat to you for being involved, and look forward to your updates

Thank you!

The amount of leadership and planning is impressive, as I have said. There's a lot of delightful little spontaneous things going on- people brought food to share, for instance.

As I type this there is a soft background of cheerful chatter.

I will nap soon. Long day of driving.

You couldn't be bothered to protest anything over the last eight years because your guy was in charge, but you lost an election so now it's time to protest. It's so freaking pathetic. It's nothing but media manufactured AstroTurf.

I support your right to make a statement by marching, and I applaud you for participating in a non violent medium to get your/ and in some cases, our- messages heard.

Have as good a time as you can, and stay safe. Remember, situational awareness is a great thing to have.

I'm a tiny lady and very non-threatening and my fella is six feet tall and looks tough even if he's a lover (oh boy) and not a fighter.
Thanks for the well wishes.
I'm sure we will be just fine.

Sure you can but what credibility do you have? It's completely partisan, but hurt temper tantrum. It's not based on any sort of principle. You're doing it because the media told you to do it.

Republicans did not protest the inauguration and did not complain about losing the election. They protested Obama's policies once they got started. And I might add they were demonized every single day by the media.

My friend is going to be on one of the buses coming up from Fort Lauderdale. She's catching it in Orlando with another friend. Sadly she isn't really one to text or take photos, so I don't know how much of a inside person being there I'll be able to report on. At least not until after the fact when she gets home, but we shall see.

She was miserable to be around after the election so I hope she gets some of that out of her system now...
