There is such a thing as overkill and the forums fall into this category, don't they?

Does ATS really need to clutter their site with so many options?

Couldn't most things fall into 3 categories:
Conspiracy, Non-Conspiracy and General Information?

How about just having 3 categories and then when you go to that page there could be sub-categories to choose from.

I bet the reason there is so many is because members begged to have them, but come on look at them closely.

Okay maybe there needs to be a few more than 3, but 100? (haven't bothered to count)

It just all seems to be so convoluted and unnecessary.

Seconded. Please.

Some would want a Hillary worship one too, or Trump bashing. We shouldn't allow that

There are 71 forums that are visible to members (we have a staff area not visible to members).

In the past 24 hours there have been 3,455 posts.

There are currently a grand total of 1,054,475 threads....and you would have us put them all under 3 forums?

There are only a handful of us mods compared to the amount of members. I sometimes really wish we had some sort of "Mod For A Day" program and let you be a mod for 24 hours....

You'd quickly change your tune on this.

Why do you keep trying to change ATS?
If you don't like the site, the way it's ran or the number of forums, go somewhere else.

One reason for the large number of forums is that the MEMBERS keep asking for them.
Members demanded, and got, a Pets forum. A History forum. Are still asking for a UK forum.
More recently, people have begun talking about a Trump forum.
Since all the posts are also available on the Recent Posts page (which is where I spend my time), how exactly does having many forums cause you any inconvenience?

What are the qualifications to become a moderator?

originally posted by: Zaphod58
Rule 1: Never ask how to become a Mod.
Rule 2: Anyone asking about becoming a Mod will be shot on sight.

These are the only rules ever released by the all powerful ones.

Step 1) Be an ATS member for at least a year or more, in good standing, not getting into trouble, follow the TCs, and always cooperate with the existing staff.

Step 2) At some point after that, wait until night and then turn off all your lights. Go to a mirror in any room (won't mater which one, we have cameras in all of them), and shine a flash light under your face and say "I want to be a Moderator on ATS."

Step 3) When the door bell is rung, strip naked and and answer to the door to show the Men In Black from ATS who have come to get you that you are not armed.

Step 4) Get tranquilized.

Step 5) Wake up strapped to a chair and answer all questions carefully. Most will be about mountain goats, but there may be a few on the history of Poland.

Step 6) Get tranquilized again.

Step 7) Wake up in front of your computer with a Post-It note on your monitor that says "You're In!". Log on to ATS to find you have staff access.

Step 8) Don't screw up or the micro explosive in your neck will be detonated by Admin.

Retirement plan is good. Something about cement shoes though, not sure on that.....

Is there a way to hide certain forums on the recent list?

this times a thousand!

I want to see no political threads on my recent screen. Its overwhelming and the those people seep into the other sections (ufo's, ancient mysteries) and dilute it.

Can't we "personalize" our "recent" page to show only forums we want to see?

Yes having to scroll past the I hate liberals and i hate republicans and I hate muslim posts is tiresome. Being able to hide the forums that produce them would make the website so much better.

The simple way is to just use the
forums page and click on the forum that interests you. If you do that you will not see anything other than what's posted in the topics that interest you.

How many users does ATS have ?

Because the most starred or flagged topics... selden reach more then 200 stars or flags...

To me this seems a bit low....

Or we are here with 400 users... divided starring statistically half of it
