You got to remember that Big Pharma is a multi-billion dollar industry.

So is "Big Oil." So is the construction industry. Not sure of your point. Big Pharma has its fingers in a whole lot of pies, I'm not sure psychiatry what it depends on.

Well that's easy, big oil creates the oil in the ground , in order to sell it and make money....

That's basically the logic going on here .....

I feel like the OP is just trolling, he's repeatedly refused the proof provided many times and also the many posters who have replied that have psychological disorders.

Aren't you being a troll?

Oil isn't bad, it's the procurement and stifling of markets that has become criminal. Oil lobbyists have suppressed alternative energy for quite a while now but thankfully that is starting to change.

As for the mental illness MYTH there is plenty of evidence proving it doesn't exist. I'm sorry you're not intelligent enough to see that. Or are you another paid shill?

Indeed it must be my extreme stupidity and ignorance that doesn't allow me to believe that mental illness is a myth

Man you're good!

Let's start with definitions.

Your premise is that Mental illness doesn't exist.

In order to make this statement, you have to define what mental illness would mean. If you can't provide a definition for what you are saying does not exist, you are not actually saying anything, so this is a necessary starting point.

How do you define mental illness, and why?

We can take it from there.

That's the point! There has never been any mental illness. There is nothing to define because there's no disorders to begin with!

All we would end up doing is labeling and profiling.

Remember, homosexuality used to be a mental illness. Homosexuals were treated, given medicine, and succumbed to hormonal treatments and even electro-shock because the Christian-Judeo establishment of yesteryear considered it a sin therefore applied it to the mental health system as well.

It's FASCISM!

I don't think you are quite getting what I mean.

Let's say I were to say, "Unicorns don't exist". That means something, because you know what a unicorn would be were it to exist.

If I were to say, "Toffledrogus doesn't exist", I am not really saying anything, because I am not refuting the existence of an idea you know.

So in order for it to be a meaningful statement to say that Mental Illness doesn't exist, we have to know what you are actually even saying Mental Illness would be were it to exist.

So how would you define the idea you are refuting?

Sorry, but there's no point having a conversation with a rock. You're not competent enough to see the big picture.

Lol yup it's me, I'm too dumb to buy into your theory that mental illness doesn't exist

Man the irony is thick

My guess is the OP has been diagnosed with a mental illness, got put on meds, things got worse, then, without trying other meds and different doses (as a doctor would do), they decided mental illness is a myth.

I'm wondering if this might be the case....there seems to be some severely deep denial here...including ignoring those who have spoken up who are schizophrenic on this forum.

Nothing said is taken in and he keeps repeating the same thing , when that doesn't work it turns to personal insults.
The sad part is, denying reality doesn't make it go away.

Op have you ever been diagnosed w anything?

But my point was that you seemed to find fault in profit. Without profit alternative energy sources would not exist. They do, and they are growing.

Yes, the side effects of the medicine creates "symptoms" to the illness.

What causes the "symptoms" before the medications are ever involved?

ANY behavior can give you a mental illness label.

You're happy? You're mentally ill.

You're sad? You're mentally ill.

You're energetic? You're mentally ill.

You're apathetic? You're mentally ill.

You move too slow? You're mentally ill.

You move too fast? You're mentally ill.

You have rapid speech? You're mentally ill.

You talk too slow? You're mentally ill.

You are quiet? You're mentally ill.

You get angry? You're mentally ill.

You don't trust random people? You're mentally ill.

You believe in aliens? You're mentally ill.

You believe the government is out to get you? You're mentally ill.

You are non-heterosexual? You're mentally ill.

You have fatigue? You're mentally ill.

You have hygiene problems? You're mentally ill.

Uhhhh.....not the case.....i hope your theory is better than this flimsy line of thinking.

You still didn't answer my questiOn

What causes the symptoms before meds?

What causes schizophrenic people to hear voices and see things that aren't there before any meds are involved?
Explain the chemical embalances

Explain the neural scans that clearly show parts of the brain that aren't working the same as a "normal " brain....

Again, have you ever been diagnosed with anything?

Or, the OP has schizoaffective disorder, and the meds even out his/her mood swings. The manic phase feels GOOD until it's just too damn much, and the meds prevent that. So meds = bad, mmmkay?

At least that's the way it is with my schizoaffective/bipolar friends (yeah, the safe buddy thing introduced me to a lot of them). So, what you do is meth at the bottom and booze at the top. Until your brain fries.

It's less fun but a lot better to take the Geodon, Abilify and valproic acid, even though the happy manic times go away.

eta: the manic times (until the peak) are a lot more fun for US, too. It's the top and bottom that is tough on your supporters. Although it's your life, we'd appreciate it if you'd take the meds and hit an even keel. It would be NICE if there was a "Dammitol" pill that stopped you just a bit manic of null. But alas, it doesn't exist.
