Start with a humble statement or apology to the people he has offended in his race to the White House. It doesn’t have to be an apology just a statement of his remorse that some of his words have offended many

Start with keeping the ACA…

Just keep its good parts and improve its bad parts. Call it what you want, Obama or Trump Care, but do not gut it. You will in that act be a great unifier of the country.

Get in between the divisive and bickering Dems and republicans and become an aggressive dynamic president who gets thing done with your GOP base and peel off Dems who would support many of your moderate policies.

Continue you’re dynamic policies of Keeping Jobs in America

Continue trying to save the world from nuclear holocaust by getting along with Russia

Together, ally with Russia and ME countries to destroy ISIS

Begin an honest ME peace effort

Start a conversation with the mayors on doing something in the inner city. Try a middle path. Some more police tactical policies along with social actions like education, and job training.

Try to tackle the gang problem without too much acrimony from the liberals.

Try a middle course carrot and the stick.

Indeed, the key is that Trump can get between the left/right division and actually get things done for the American people.

Health care for all. Jobs coming back with a strong economy and strive for true world peace

Skillful Means is the Key

But if Trump doesn’t get control of his personality quirks, such as his vindictiveness and comes out swinging and becomes embroiled in a fight a week and becomes obsessively vindictive and not a unifier but a unifire than he will fail

My simple answer would be a decision to take early retirement and take Pence with him. He has a nice place in Florida I hear.

He'll do what he can.
It won't take MUCH to improve exponentially.

Go to the nearest Trump Tower and jump from the top floor would be a great start, oh and no parachute!

By doing about half of what he said he would do during the campaign.
That would be a terrific four years.

No apologies. Go forward as planned. No mercy. Send flowers and chocolates to Reldra for Valentine's day.

He could have started a long time ago on the high road with espousing basic respect & dignity as crucial cultural morals, as opposed to encouraging derisive sycophancy. That goes a long way domestically & internationally, and would have resonated in a country that clings to bible quotes when it suits. You know, that whole "do unto others" line.

No one that likes Trump wants to see him apologize for anything. His appeal is that he is an Alpha Male, Honey Badger who doesn't care what you think.

Trump will not apologize. He is a traitor and will not be satisfied until there is a civil war.

Even here on ATS there are plenty of threats about the coming civil war.

Civil war beats nuclear war with the Russians any day.

Well then there it is. We've gone a complete 180 degrees back to 2008!

And people thought this was a political revolution!

This is exactly why Trump shouldn't give a rat's hairy ass what his detractors think, want, or cry for and should simply stay precisely on the course he ran on. Nothing short of total capitulation and self-immolation will appease these rabid haters who simply cannot handle losing and being told "no" by the rest of America's voters, so why bother with them at all? If they don't like it, tough snip... the exits are to your left and right, please find them. Build the wall, end the ACA, screw NATO and the UN, invest in infrastructure, cut taxes, secure the border, attack ISIS, and Make America Great Again.

I'd be impressed if he used his talent for avoiding taxes to completely rewrite the tax code, making it extra simple, thereby removing patronage from the political equation.

I'd be impressed if he came up with a single player health care plan, as it is the MOST fiscally conservative way to go (single payer nations spend less per patient than we do, freeing up that money to be used for productive purposes).

Bonus points: if he swings on Mitch McConnell's gizzard while humming the Star Spangled Banner. Double points if he does it while dragging dumbo around by his ears.

It's not Trump's fault if people get offended and butthurt. Hey, if the shoe fits...

Truth hurts.

You're absolutely right. This OP is hypothetical.

Trump can do some real time things that can be beneficial but his personality is so flawed that that will most likely get in the way and prevent success.

Obama’s personality deficiency was he feared conflict and confrontation. He was an arch accommodator.

He was the Jackie Robinson of politics maybe, but his lack of zeal for any cause and accommodation of the deep state was his downfall.

Trump seems to have the guts to confront negative powers but he himself has a very defective personality, as well, he is a negative power himself.

He may divorce himself from that but still his personality is a big problem

Regardless of everything else, Trump was positioned in America as one of the most egotistical people of our time.
