When people use the word then when they should really use than.

They also write that instead of "than". "This house is older that the next house", which gets me really puzzled. Surely it can't be a case of "use sloppy pronunciation and spell as you pronounce", which is the cause of so many modern mis-spellings? It might be a case of "rely on spellcheck, which doesn't highlight genuine words in the wrong place"; but why don't these people just "hear" what they have written down, and recognise that it isn't what they would say aloud?

Sometimes? No. All of the time.

The quality of communication these people are capable of makes the most gormless of the kids I went to school with years ago, seem like an Oxford literature expert by comparison. Its a shameful thing to behold.

I think I remember that exchange from "Miranda". Is that your guilty secret?

NO ..... It was on the Matthew Wright talk show this morning, maybe he got

it from there.

I've seen 'that' written instead of 'than' so many times I started to doubt my use of the language. I genuinely thought I'd missed something, somewhere.

'Women' written instead of 'woman' is on the increase, too.

Strange one...

What could you use instead, without being exact?

Several meaning more than two, but not to many.......

I'd rather someone say 3 or 4 exactly, because when someone says several and you think, oh three, then they say no, four ..... boils my blood!
